One of my favourite players in his time with us. Great to see him back. Best crosser of a ball I've seen in a Reds shirt.
Used to create so many goals from right wing-back ahead of his time under Danny's structure of 532. His goal against Blades at Oakwell is still a classic for me as to how that system could allow one defender the freedom to roam wherever, in that case, right into Blades' penalty area undetected and unopposed to score our second and close off the game. Mind you, I still think that photo is of Ian Botham. Nickly never looked like that in his playing days.
Good to hear Nicky talking about his role at the club. I'm pleased to see him back at Oakwell, along with Nick Colgan.
A lot them young lads could learn from Nicky, not seen anyone cross a ball better than him and I hope he’s as good as his mentor big Eric.
The old sweeper system was very effective back then with Matty Appleby proving to be vital in that role.
Hearing it shouted so many times I thought his name was "f'kin hell Eaden" Best right back/ wingback in my time of watching The Reds. Always wanted him to come back in some role, I always thought it would be as headcoach.
