Now Fury has vacated his title will the winner of this rematch be undisputed heavyweight champion?

No. Because he’s only vacated the Ring Magazine belt and not the WBC.

Very good chance that Ring Magazine add it to the Usyk/AJ fight given their top ten rankings.

He hasn't officially given up his WBC title yet, ring magazine title not a sanctioned belt. The wbc is the one what really matters and the wbc make the rules up as it goes a long so not certain that aj or usyk will get an opportunity. If the title does become vacant Wilder will get the first opportunity to box for the vacant title as he is the current #1 contender in the wbc rankings

The Ring belt has been thrown in with the other alphabet titles. The only belt that really counts is the WBC, which Fury still owns until a decision is taken in a fortnight's time. In essence, if Usyk wins again, I think Fury stays retired and the WBC will have to get two fellas to fight for it. Usyk and AJ are next in line in the WBC rankings.

But if Joshua wins at the weekend, I imagine Fury would be tempted back out of retirement for the 38th time and have one last payday etc.

However, if I was Usyk, I'd be demanding a third fight, to settle it.

    It's boxing. Who the **** knows? :D

Wilder and Joyce at #1 and #2 with the WBC buddy.

Usyk and AJ don’t make the top ten with that organisation as they’ve been fighting for all the other belts for so long.

We’ve got Joyce (#2) and Parker (#3) fighting this year. As well as Ruiz (#5) and Ortiz (#8).

Looks like Wilder (#1) is returning against Helenius (#9).

Yeah, sorry, I was looking at the Ring rankings still.

Joyce v Parker is a great matchup. I like them both. Good chins, good engines, makes for a decent scrap I think. Parker has better shot variety and speed, but Joyce is relentless and I think he hits harder. Great fight though.

I don’t think Helenius gets through more than three rounds (and I’m being generous there) against Wilder, assuming the latter isn’t badly damaged after his Fury battles. People can pick apart his resume etc, but I still believe Wilder flatlines everyone other than Fury.

Wilder Joyce for the vacant WBC next year then.

I don’t rate Ruiz or Ortiz.

But the boxing public will have been robbed if Tyson doesn’t fight for undisputed. He’s my favourite ever boxer and even I’ll judge him very differently if he has retired without fighting AJ or Usyk. Because I think he beats both and so one more fight for all the gold would be THE way to bow out, win lose or draw.

Fingers crossed AJ can get it done on Saturday and we get what we want some time next year.

But again - ******* boxing, it’s so annoying.

Best fight to be made at heavyweight without a belt being on the line.

I don’t think Parker can keep Joyce off him for 12 rounds. AJ fought a weird and poor fight against Parker, on the back foot looking for a points win (Ruiz 2 like), but Whyte and Chisora have bought hurt him. Joyce hits harder but then Joyce is a fair bit slower than those two as well.

Dubois is kicking around somewhere with a ‘world title’ after that embarrassment of a fight in Miami with Don King.

The worry if AJ loses and Fury retires is that it will be slim pickings then for any heavyweight fights with interest, sadly. Already an era low on quality but could be about to get worse.

Frank Warren’s played a blinder. Got a stake in Fury for if he carries on & has Joyce lined up for the WBC & Dubois lined up for the WBA.

Still think the same as I did 18 months ago & that’s that Usyk will rule if he gets the chance to fight everyone. Too fast, too fit, too clever & an iron chin to go with it just in case he does get clipped.

The longer Fury’s out of the ring only works in Usyk’s favour as well.

What do we all think? The weigh-in happening as we speak. I'm hoping AJ is more ferocious than last time out as it will make for a much more ineteresting fight - a very meek effort in fight one. I think the fight is hard to call, but I have a hunch Usyk will win again. He's heavier than last time (obviously this can sometimes have an adverse effect), but he is also cleverer than AJ, can really wear a fighter down, and if AJ can't hit hard and loses his bottle when getting hit again, I see AJ on the canvas sparko. But it could go either way I reckon.

Hope I'm wrong but Usyk for me, hoping AJ finds something in him to try and grind him down. Get the win and then call Tyson out and we all get the fight we want early next year.

AJ loses then he's finished and we probably get a crappy exhibition between Fury and AJ in a couple of years time

I reckon he will win just like the last time he needed a rematch to beat someone. Even if AJ loses there is no way he will be retiring. Fury will still want to face him either for the WBC or for undisputed. He could face a Dubois or Joyce. He could let Parker try and avenge his defeat. He will still have plenty of options out there.

Not that it matters as AJ will win.

AJ didn’t lose his bottle last time mate. But harsh. Was just faced with a technically better fighter and came prepared with a disastrous game plan - one that once you’re in the ring trying to figure out the Usyk riddle leaves you looking clueless.

The realty though is that it was a 7-5 fight (8-4 at a push). Not the one sided domination that some have you believe but a clear win nonetheless.

AJ will be better this time but so will Usyk. The weight gain suggests to me he wants to withstand the more aggressive AJ he expects to face. Bulk up, rely less on footwork, and make sure you’re holding the centre of the ring. Will be such a different fight but he won’t want to be forced back like against Chisora as AJ hits hard.

Big task for AJ because styles make fights and Usyk is a difficult style for any heavyweight. I think he’s going to make it a really close fight and might get the KO. Usyk rightly the favourite though.

Dramatic much? It’s this kind of talk that stops the best fighting the best. Plenty of options for AJ to continue if he loses - assuming he wants I continue

Only way AJ wins is by sparking him out. Which he’s more than capable of doing. But that’s the only way he wins.

Would Fury fight Usyk to unify the Heavyweight division?

Not really. The hope is he has the same drive and focus he had for the 2nd Ruiz fight and he comes out on top.

But like you say if he does lose will he want to continue, I personally don't think he will

Money and fame has softened him up like Rocky Balboa. He's become "civilised".

He had drive in the first Ruiz fight. Not sure he had focus, but there’s a story still be told there, and despite that he was cantering to victory before that clip to the side/back of the head cost him. This is a very different scenario to the Ruiz rematch.

I just don’t like this notion that every loss for an elite fighter means retirement. It’s what scares fighters in to boxing the very best.
