Excellent poll an interesting question on the poll would have been - 'Have you ever made a personal attack on other posters?'
Mental health, anxiety, depression are important parts of peoples life now, it needs people to make a bit of a stand,. Ive been on a few courses and Im a mental health firstaider as part of my job. Ive seen men and women at work in tears due to work stresses and one of my work colleagues took lots of pills in an attempt to end it. Personal and work lives are for a lot of people very stressful and we dont need to add to that on here.
I'm not saying you can't discuss one without the other but history shows that extremes of political opinion tend to go hand in hand with -isms. Both fascism and communism were happy to preach anti-Semitism, racism and homophobia.
I received some abuse concerning the B word in 2019/20 such that I made the decision not to post or reply to anything on the subject. Edited. Whilst I wouldn't say it affected my mental health, it did make me feel uncomfortable.
My first thought when I read that was Birmingham? What's wrong with Birmingham? (Apart from everything) and I genuinely have no idea why I thought of Birmingham either.
There's a lot wrong with Birmingham but there's a lot good about it as long as you don't go near St Andrews....
I don't think I've ever been to Birmingham at all. Thinking about it there are a lot of places relatively nearby that I've not been to. Might have to make it a thing to visit different towns and cities just for day trips or something or one night.
The canal side in the city centre is very nice, Broad Street is a good place for a bender and The Jewellery Quarter is worth a visit.
Would we all post on here if your screen name was your actual name and your personal details were held on file such as name, address, d.o.b?
I'd recommend Lincoln if you haven't been. Just had a two day stay there for my wedding anniversary. Lovely city centre and plenty of nice bars, pubs and restaurants.
talking of Birmingham - have thoroughly enjoyed the European Championships - BBC coverage/commentary outstanding. Especially liked the diving and gymnastics and the long distance races. One little gripe - with the throwing field events if we got a sideways view we'd see the massive distances the discus, javelin, hammer are thrown.
