I read this statement from Lincoln City's CEO, and it made me contrast with the recent statement from BFC and their general approach to Women's football.

Update from the chief executive - News - Lincoln City (weareimps.com)

    Notable points:

    1. Lincoln are actively incorporating and promoting their women's team via their official club channels. BFC do not, and with the interest in the Women's game at an all time high, it seems like something they ought to be working on.
    2. They got a crowd of over 1000 for their national league game, played on the pitch at their stadium.
    3. Having experienced inappropriate chanting towards women at a men's game, their statement is somewhat stronger, and issued directly by the CEO rather than being a generic statement on their site. They're actively inviting information to enable action against the perpetrators.

It feels like there are some things BFC could learn from here.

I've no interest in seeing updates on the women's team. I was quite irritated this weekend as I opened twitter during the game and saw a goal update. It was disappointing to then see that it was from earlier in the day when one of the junior sides was playing. This is more a problem with how Twitter chooses to display content than it is an issue with the club

If anything the different teams should have different twitter handles and then the main feed can retweet everything for people who want to see it all, or people can simply follow the sides they are interested in. That'd probably push the twitter metrics down though.

That's all fair enough, and I'm sure there are many other people who also aren't interested. Equally there are plenty who are. The point is though, Lincoln are actually promoting and supporting their Women's team, Barnsley are not. There isn't any content for you to not be interested in.

I agree that for Twitter separate feeds are better (which is what we have), but I don't think it would hurt for the official website and the actions of the club to be more supportive of Women's football in Barnsley?

Genuine question , do Barnsley fc run the ladies team or are Barnsley ladies a separate entity ?

Barnsley fc women. Currently play on the Oakwell academy pitch.
There are plans to build a £5m stadium at Hoyland according to their website. Doesn't explain where any funding will come from. ?
Barnsley fc ladies have close ties to the football club.

Council have denied the hoyland thing though and Chris Lamb has categorically stated there will be no stadium built

Thought it was being built on Broadway somewhere?

Not sure how recent those statements were. But according to their site (8th august) Groundworks have begun. With planning permission granted after being turned down at Kingstone (broadway) . ? Works have stalled admittedly but no reason put forward.?

It was after then. Chris Lamb denied it last week after the reports came out the week before. He was very clear that no talks had taken place with Barnsley women and no stadium would happen.

    Ps I think he's lying

Personally, I'd welcome the ladies team to Oakwell, they should be part of the club.

Were they not going to play on that overgrown field that hasn't had Football on it for years that's across the road from the Greenacre School? That land used to look so good when teams played on it and it's been an eyesore for far too long.

Where's the money coming from for this football ground? Is the Barnsley F.C women's team ran separately?

There are currently 2 womens' senior clubs in Tarn. Barnsley Women's FC, the one talking about it's own stadium, is an independent club having split from Barnsley FC's ladies' setup a good few years ago. They play at I think the fourth tier of the Womens' National League and have aims to get to the Championship. They currently play at Wombwell Town FC.
Barnsley Ladies is the official womens' setup of Barnsley FC and play on the Academy pitch, I think in official club kit. As you say the parent club doesn't appear to have an awful lot of interest in them and they play further down the womens' league setup.

You're mixing the sides up mate - easily done though it is!

Barnsley FC Ladies' first team play at Oakwell, they're tier 6. To answer Red CB's question, they're a separate entity from BFC, which is kinda why I highlight Lincoln's involvement with their team. There's a relationship with Reds in the Community so have a link to BFC and use their badge, but that's it.

Barnsley Women currently play at Wombwell, they're 4th tier. They're entirely separate from BFC. They're the ones looking to build the new ground in Hoyland.

Not being funny Hooky but that does not answer my query, does BFC run & fund the Barnsley Ladies or are they a separate club all together , because if they were part of BFC then why would they need their own stadium ?
