What about the rumoured boom battle bar? The unit has been under offer for ages now yet no movement? As I posted previously dolly’s has signed and is fitting out yet zero publicity or announcement by Glassworks either also the burger place that was mentioned months ago. Seems that units under offer have just ceased to materialise

I do think many of the big movies have been produced by prime and Netflix, and have aired on their platform first. This has understandably with rising costs meant people have stayed home.

It's a weak argument in my mind though with James Bond, Spiderman and Top Gun being huge for cinemas in the last 18 months.

Always said that, where Lidl is would have been ideal, l can't be arsed going down Harborough Hills.

Isn't there a Costa drive-through on Wombwell Lane just past Tesco?

It’s a strange one isn’t it? Peel have said they aren’t intending of changing the use of the building from Class E and will not operate the unit as a “hot food takeaway”. However, Class E does permit an ancillary amount of hot food takeaway sales. Essentially, you could operate a Greggs and Subway under Class E because they sell ‘some’ hot food. Therefore, unless it’s a Greggs drive thru, all I can think of would be coffee. If that’s the case then I’d prefer something like Tim Horton’s, but knowing Barnsley it’ll probably end up being another Costa.

I had no idea there was one down there. Good to know for FanZone set up mornings as I'm currently getting out the car at Ferrybridge services on my way on.

My Barnsley knowledge limitations include driving up Pontefract Road to Oakwell. Walking from Oakwell in to town. Or getting off the train and walking to Spiral City or Jolly Tap.

As far as I’m aware they’re all still coming. I’ve seen nothing to suggest otherwise.

I suppose it would be too close to the Costa over the road where Blockbuster was. Admittedly that one isn’t a drive thru though.

It’s a strange one really. Other than KFC on Wakefield Road all the drive thru’s in the borough seem to be on the same end of town. I find it odd that there’s no McDonalds to the north of Barnsley that could easily serve Mapplewell/Royston/Darton etc. and there’s nothing directly off junction 37 either.

A Greggs would make total sense, but how many drive-thru locations do they have at the moment? At the start of the year it was 14 but I've not seen anything that suggests that trial was successful and they're rolling it out.

Tim Horton's are making a play for the UK and doubling down on their plan to open more sites, but I'm not sure if Barnsley would be on the list as it's so unknown to most people over here.

Worked over in Toronto for a few months, and Horton’s is an absolute staple of daily life there.

It's huge. The Starbucks/Pret of Canada. Dominates all coffee/breakfast/convenience advertising and association.

Struggled to make the breakthrough in the US. Just getting started in the UK after originally pulling out of plans to roll out here (complete u-turn).

Expanding rapidly. I think they’ve got about 70 locations in the UK.
