Just chatting and bloke asked me if it's shared in League Cup. Tbh I've never thought about it... Obviously know the FA Cup matches do. Any ideas?
Gate Receipts Distribution: However there is money to be made elsewhere for participating teams in EFL Cup. The gate receipts earnings of every EFL Cup match are divided into three pots. 45% each is shared by home and away team regardless where the match is taking place while 10% goes to English FA. So for example when Burton Albion lost to Manchester United few years back in EFL Cup they still managed to grab around £500,000 for their nights work at old trafford. I assume expenses have to be taken into account first.
Hadn't thought of that. The way it's worded though it's gate receipts rather than game profits, so it should be in the region of £200k to us for last night. Leeds will use their £200k plus all other matchday revenue to fund the cost of hosting the game, which obviously means they might get less profit than us, but do have the advantage of being at home and progressing to the next round.
Isn't there vat to consider also. ? Trying to work out an estimate if £500k on gate ×45% £225 k - 20% VAT £180k
Not sure. Someone with better financial acumen than me would be able to advise if the VAT would be taken at that point, able to be claimed back, etc. Similar maths to me though without the VAT. How I got to £210k yesterday
Seems reasonable Hooky, but you don't take 20% off for VAT (divide by 1.2 gives a few £k more, but appreciate that's splitting hairs on a rough calculation ). Does look like around £180-200k.
I can't see that anything could be claimed back, AFAIK the price of the ticket includes VAT ... which would go to HMRC.
I know mate, silence is deafening. Hopefully they’ve got something lined up cos we sure as hell need it.
The home club would get all other income from a game i presume. Sponsorship, food and drink, program sales etc etc, which for Leeds would be about £26.8m
BFC will invoice Leeds for the agreed amount. Vat will likely be chargeable, as Leeds provided a service and charged Vat for it. Many folk forget that tickets include vat. 20% makes a big difference.
