Callum Wright is someone of interest and Duff mentions he has been spoken to over a loan. Would be a great signing if we could get it done. Prefer to have him permanently but just to have him as an option would improve us. No strikers mentioned though which of course is the area we need to focus on.
No strikers mentioned by name. Callum Wright is only mentioned because he was asked about him specifically, but the piece does say a RWB and a Striker are the priorities.
I trust our coach implicitly...he knows we need something else up front, however there's only so much he can say. We need players out to free up wages im guessing and waiting for teams to release their players on loan. He managed on a shoe string before, I'm optimistic he will get at least one striker in next thursday....and it will be a loan.
So many moving parts. - We need players out to fund some of the targets - Some of the targets think they can secure Championship moves so are keeping us waiting - Clubs haven't secured their own targets so won't release ours yet - Clubs say no - Players say no - Medicals say no Refreshing for Duff to put to bed the conspiracy rumours about not being supported or that we're not trying.
We're not massively short if the aim is to avoid relegation. I'm not saying we definitely will avoid relegation, but we have a squad capable of avoiding relegation. We are massively short if we want to win a lot of games and be successful, so I guess it depends on your perspective.
If you saying we will not definitely avoid relegation are you expecting us to get relegated then Jay ? Personally I do not think we will be anywhere near going down so I am interested to know why you think opposite .
Need iseka to move on duff says its possible he will move but alot is down to him. Then goes on to say "Quite clearly, he has not been part of the plans. That's one that is left with Aaron as much to do with anything." I take that as he hasnt applied himself.
I think Duff is right, we do only need 2 or 3 to make us a decent L1 team capable of being in the top 10 comfortably. If and its a big if, we can add a goal scorer up top like we had last time we were at this level as well as a RWB then we would be absolutely fine. We don't need more than 3 players really.
But what if we lose Andersen, as well as Helik? I'd suggest we'd need another centre back then - a good one, not just another body. Apart from Helik and Andersen, I am not convinced by any of the others. And who is actually going to score for us? We've got just one solitary goal in 7 games from our strikers. It's unrealistic to expect any of the current crop to make a really significant contribution, and it's going to be very hard to sign any new strikers that we could expect to score a lot.
We can't buy players now in case we lose others. As it stands now we do not need any more CBs as we have Andersen, Helik, Moon, Cundy, Kitching, Sraha, McCarthy and Williams who can all play there. If someone goes then yes we might need another but as it stands now we do not need anymore there. We certainly need striker/strikers and a RWB but that again fits in with what Duff wants with 2 or 3 coming in. As I say he assessment is pretty accurate. We don't need more than 2 or 3 currently, just got to make sure they are the right additions. If we got a RWB to provide cover/competition for Williams. Callum Wright to add more goals from midfield and then one half decent striker, we would be fine IMO. We would need more if others left, but as we speak now that is all we need really.
Fair point. The headline readers are still getting annoyed that he said 'If' we sign two or three players.
It's about getting the right players to be able to play in the Championship after our automatic promotion too. No point signing players just for League 1. That's a challenge in itself. I just hope we click into gear before the leaders get too far ahead.
I think the club's first aim SHOULD be to avoid relegation, as early in the season as possible and the next aim should be to build on that to a play off place, and to build on that to a promotion place. Baby steps.
We may have the numbers, but if Andersen and Helik both leave, I am not convinced we have anyone else of the required quality in central defence.
I'm probably wrong but Anderson doesn't seem the sort to leave unless it was a daft offer or a big club.
