Can see why Duff mentioned looking at a Number 10 if we can get one. Thomas was great in the first home game, but we need options in that position for when it isn't coming off for him. He benefits when he can turn and have space to run in to, but if it's a tight game, like this one, he's largely inaffective. Another striker in the door frees up Aitchison to play in his more familiar role as well. As Jack didn't play on Wednesday I wouldn't go for the automatic Aitchison off/Norwood on. Keep him him on and drop him deeper to play Thomas' role with Cole and Norwood up top.
When against intense opposition like Leeds and Ipswich too. Their pressure did slow the longer the half went on, but it was relentless in that first 15-20 minutes.
Not sure if you've read Duff's comments around recruitment this week, but you're attempting to take a post that links those comments with the way the first half has gone, and suggest it's random.
I definitely take a 1..1. Imho our passing has been poor and look like we need composure in that midfield...crying our for someone like I dunno....Morsy!!
Injuries are killing us and reinforcements are desperately needed but just not convinced we’ll get them.
My understanding is there are only 3 sub "sessions" allowed, plus HT, so we have two possible options.
Wasn't something that came to my mind in that first half. Given it took them 44 minutes to get their first shot on target (excluding the free kick/goal, obviously), I thought our shape and setup was a real positive. Bringing Williams in to the back three was a sensible decision as it's nullified some of their pace and balls in behind.
