Lech Poznań's owner, Piotr Rutkowski, on why Michał Helik's transfer didn't land: "We were able to come to an agreement with his club for 1.5 million euro over a month ago. However, in the end it was Michał who delayed the transfer. He didn't want to come here." "I don't want to blame Helik. It's his absolute right. He doesn't want to come back to Poland? Okay, fair, he wants to be in England and I respect that. But what I don't like is that we wasted a lot of our time on this, our whole plan collapsed."
For the sake of our financial position he really needs to be sold by 11pm Thursday as does Iseka. Anything less than £2million for Helik would be a joke. Iseka can go for nowt as long as i care. Free up some wages for someone who gives a damn
€1.5million is about £1.3million so I guess that’s about what we should expect to get if we’d agreed that price before. Maybe even a bit less. Even with less than a year to run on his contract someone is getting him on the cheap, sounds like Huddersfield
I’m getting a bit lost by some of the posts on this subject. What is the value of selling Hellik or Styles? If we sell them the money goes straight into the shortfall and disappears; it is not released for player purchases, wages or anything else. If they stay, they strengthen what is one of the weakest squads we ever had.
Yeah they’d stenghthen the squad but we still have to pay that debt, the debt dosnt go away, if we can’t sell anyone to cover the shortfall then we can’t pay our bills, the investors might be prepared to prop us up or if they are not we go into admin…. and we’d eventually lose Helik/styles for nothing if keeping them regardless of debt was the plan
It doesn't just 'disappear', it pays bills that we would otherwise have been unable to pay, and makes administration less likely. On Helik's value, the fact that nobody in the Championship has been in for him yet, suggests he's not worth what we would like to think he is. Probably not helped by the injuries this summer and end of last season. For example, Blackburn have just paid £2m for a centre back, and Helik hasn't even been on there radar, they signed Hyam after missing out on Van Der Berg and Van Hecke, so he wasn't even in their top three choices. There's been plenty of signings of centre backs in the Championship, Harwood-Bellis and McNally to Burnley, Lenihan to Boro plus plenty more. And we're only just starting to hear of domestic interest in Helik now.
I didn’t know we were facing administration? I had wondered whether the ‘new’ Owners might change the general approach of recent seasons and, oh I don’t know, try to be successful by doing some new things like; investing in the Club, appointing people to positions of influence that either knew what they were doing or could do it well. Possibly selling players for their worth; maybe connecting with the support once again; giving some hope to the Club and the town. I know it’s quite radical stuff for some but tbh it’s why, right at the eleventh hour, I renewed my ticket. You know……the ‘hope thing’.
If we don’t pay bills we’d eventually end up in admin, the owners won’t want to lose their investment, but they might not be prepared to spend millions to keep it either.
or they could spend .......something? I thought that what a lot of football club owners did. I've spent more on BFC in the last 5 years than the current owners.
Rather keep him and try and get out of the division, at the moment one of the new centre backs isn't good enough.
I really mean no offence by this but I genuinely think you have no idea of the state of affairs the club’s finances are currently in. I have hope and some faith in the rejigged board - but that faith is that they will manage us through it, not that they will blindly spend us out of the division. The finances were shot before you even consider relegation leaving a further £7million shortfall. They had to put £1million in just to cover wages and bills for a few weeks before they could get to the transfer window. We aren’t sure of the fees we’ve brought in so far but I’d be amazed if Woodrow, Brittain and Morris between them brought in more than £2.5million. Adeboyejo, Miller, Palmer and Halme all left on frees. Can’t imagine we got much if anything for Schmidt and Christie-Davies. Wages will also have gone down a bit - though bear in mind we’ve brought six free transfers in plus two loans, so whilst they are likely on less money the numbers of players are roughly the same. If we can get another £3.5million in for Styles and Helik we might be ok. But it is necessary. It really is.
Keeping Helik isn't going to get us out of the division. We've had one goal from a forward so far this season.
Peterborough are doing fine but we are in the mud. It's the owners fault we are in this mess. Allowing players like cole to be signed for the championship
I'd also like to see some investment, but if I had 7m to invest into this club at the moment, I wouldn't be spending it to purely cover the shortfall and keep a team together that could only muster 30 points last year.
Is it just me that thinks 1.3m for Helik is ok? He’s got 9/10 months left on his contract and would go for half that in January. I’d be pissed if we turned that down and lost him for less after Christmas.
…I know he’s worth more than that, but only if he has a 2/3 year contract. Taking into account our financial situation and that he didn’t do amazing last season I wouldn’t blame the club for selling at 1.3
