Styles made me look a right mug. I thought he could progress and fill the gap left by Mowatt........how we ended up here is incredible. I would usually be annoyed at a player who has failed and sulked the way Styles has, but after last season's abject failure and the state of the club currently, hard to really feel like anyone would want to be on board here at present. Dreadful times.
Fair do's maybe he will make a top midfielder I think his lack of pace will hold him back let's hope we get good money for him either way ureds.
His best performances were under val. Had some shockers in center midfield id be shocked if he went to be a 1st team regualr at a top half championship club this season.
Who else are we going to sell because all the money we have got for the others we've sold doesn't come any where near the shortfall and even if we sell styles and helik we're still in a shortfall it's becoming obvious that there isn't anyone in charge who knows how to run a football club.
Think he suffered from not having someone with experience to play along side in the middle to learn from last year, would have been interested to see how he'd have come along if he'd played alongside Mowatt for a year. We'll miss him.
It's not just the transfer fees though but the wages that come with it. You're rumoured £750k for Woodrow is actually £1.25m due to saving on his £10k a week salary. Helik at £1.5m (assuming) is £1.75m. Styles the same. Morris at £1.5m (confirmed by Luton). Brittain at £1.5m. We 'could' have brought in around £6.5m in transfer fees alone by the end of the window - although the accounts will confirm the actual fees involved. Add in the wages saved, the relegation reduction clauses, and the £1m investment from the board, and we'll probably be fairly close to getting back on track financially. Obviously you've then got investment in the new players, but at least that is spread out over the season and not something that hits you in one go.
Which is all good, providing all the fees you mention (incoming) are all paid up front and also not over the season or into future years.
Not necessarily. Payment now and payment over the season is ok for us. We’re not staring at bills being larger than revenue on day one. Payment over 3-5 years would be an issue.
Going on loan to Millwall apparently. If that's true the board are seriously unbelievably inept. If we can't get money for him now we don't let him go. Simple as that. A sale at least help bridge the gap. A loan is pointless.
Millwall transfer deadline day 2022 LIVE BLOG - newsatden.co.uk Didn't we do the same with Tap-In-Tom though with a fee agreed for January - that could work again, we probably have enough to stay afloat for three months or could apply factoring.
We've had all summer to sort this out get the money in for him now so we could strengthen ourselves but haven't. Worked for us with Bradshaw/Woodrow deal but that's cos it happened late in the window and was only way of doing it. Styles announced his intention to leave before pre season even started and we've ended up loaning him out.
