But it’s not true is it? Most of our windows have had black out blinds plus extra blinds and curtains drawn for the last few summers, it definitely didn’t work in our case….. maybe Spanish house energy ratings were not as good as you think they were a few centuries ago….?!

I mean to say, that if your thermal heat retention is low in an old Spanish house, then shutting the windows might well work as the walls and ceiling loose lot’s of that heat, but not so in a modern well insulated house….

You must not be doing it right. We had blinds fitted throughout last year and our house has been much cooler this year, despite the high temperatures. Timing is the key. Keep the warm air and daylight out on whichever side faces the sun. Then switch around as necessary.

My main problem is having a missus who thinks it's nice to "let a little light in" whenever my back is turned!

I certainly do this too pal…. pretty sure it’s got more to do with the amount of insulation in my house….

If Dido Hardin had not been given £37 billion to look after the Tory donors we could have bought back our Electic, Gas, and Water from the likes of France and the other foreign owners that are reaping the profits but hay ho keep doffing your caps.

I bet it's a foreign firm that will be building Sizewell C and the racists like Farage, Johnson, Truss, and Patel will be cheering it on.

I can't argue with you, I've never been in your house.

What I suggested certainly worked for us in the heatwave a few weeks ago, the house was insufferable till I saw it suggested on the telly and the following days were much better. Going back to your original point, using aircon isn't so bad as long as the power comes from renewables just the same as heating in the winter.

Spanish houses are notoriously poorly insulated (because it's rarely cold) but shutting blinds and closing doors and windows does seem to work in summer.

From the man who announced 45 new hospitals and couldn’t speak about cost of living crisis because a new PM would be in place next week.
For me, with Richie Rich having shot his bolt, this is simply an attempt to undermine Liz Truss.

No doubt. They're like ferrets in a sack.
