I'm a bit despondent now to be honest. Now I've vented my spleen. I feel empty regarding Barnsley F.C. In the heat of the moment I posted some over the top things last night. Apologies if I offended anyone.
We go to work, come home, have our tea, watch TV, shout at the kids for leaving the lights on in rooms they've left, get up and watch Wednesday stick 5 past us.
Flirting with relegation. Don’t know if it’ll just be fingering or the full on shag but it’ll be a close run thing.
I honestly saw no likelihood of relegation - I still don’t think we will go down but to bring in no centre forward at all yesterday when we’ve been crying out all summer, and the manager has said it in most of his pressers - yet bring in a central midfielder who might be good but let’s be honest wasn’t really needed, yes a right back we did need and earlier in the week a winger for a team which doesn’t use them. I expected Helik and Styles to go but the Styles deal, if it goes through, as a loan with no obligation to purchase is absolutely bizarre. We have one player in the squad who’s a recognised lwb in the formation the gaffer prefers - and he’s injured. I’m not just disappointed, I’m completely baffled.
I think Duff will have no choice but to change formation. 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 would seem the most likely formation to fit in the players he’s been given. He can’t keep playing with wing backs when we don’t have any, he can’t keep playing 2 up front when we don’t have enough strikers and he’s got an abundance of central midfielders to fit in. What a shambles
With the squad we have i'd be tempted to go 4 5 1 with tedic up front and our main threat coming from midfielders getting forward' at least then you would think that we'd be more solid defensively..
i was the same as you but just don’t see how we score enough goals to stay up. Other than playing a false 9 with 2 wide attackers.
You'd think he'll get more game time now we haven't brought in a striker. Also Tedic will play more. I agree with Redfan. 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 now.
I think I can see the plan. Midfielders are generally versatile types of players (Remember Stuart Gray?) so maybe the thinking is to sign lots of average (cheap) midfielders and make them play in the positions where we are short (centre forward wing-back or whatever), praying that they'll be any good. Not much of a plan, but it's a plan.
No, but Red Riding Hood is (3.10). And she would be my recommendation! (Beautiful pedigree, multiple group entries, and likely to be up to the average standard required to win this particular race!)
