Can’t see his value dropping. Let him play in the championship and if he’s sold after it, his value would be more, based on contract length at least.
Tbf to the club, I need to retract my previous criticism on this one. Actually makes some sense seeing it like this. Protects our longer term interest. Puts him in the shop window if he does the business at Millwall. Gets him off our wage bill. Keeps him in the international frame. In lieu of anyone wanting to pay any money for him, this looks a good set up. I’ve gone from ‘terrible deal’ to ‘smart deal’ on this one.
Agreed. Essentially just taking a punt that in a year he's worth more, still with 2 years on his contract, not having to pay him. It's a gamble I'd be willing to take. Shows me that things aren't at complete dire straits too, in terms of the club finances.
Based on his 'I will see who is here tomorrow' comment yesterday I am not sure he will have had much say to be honest.
That's a very sensible bit of business. We've presumably shifted a good chunk of his wages for this year, no doubt put in a release clause that suits us and it's up to him now to earn himself a move.
And left us with no cover at LWB as the brains trust let the other backup LWB leave on loan at the same time and the other LWB at the club is injured. Yes all very sensible !!!!
