The best managers are able to rehabilitate ‘problem’ players and get them back to playing their best football. Unfortunately, it seems that Duff has chosen to lock him out in the cold instead.
The biggest complaint I had last season - a crowded field of contenders I might add, was the lack of effort - do we really want to reintroduce more of that? No thanks, clearly he’s not willing to give 100%.
Interesting that not only did we not sign a striker but we yesterday also lost our first and third highest scorers of league goals (first and second if you don't include the 5 Cole got 8 seasons ago). Iseka's mammoth 3 league goals for Barnsley is now the second most at the club I believe!
I get that , but my thoughts are around effective application. What we know is when asked, Duff has stated that those who train effectively are in the match day squad and those that don't are not. Iseka is not the only one not selected. I do not see Duff lying. Who knows the penny might have dropped and he trains effectively today and Duff has intimated that when he does he could be picked.
I'd hope so. I like the Head Coach but he's talked in riddles a bit this last few days. Only the other day he stated that he was happy with his midfield and just wanted a right back and a striker. It's interesting that he's worked with Martin and Phillips before. Maybe Duff is a shrewd cookie and inwardly wasn't happy with engine room and wanted it addressing. We were overrun against Wycombe, Leeds and Ipswich at times. That is clearly good man management praising players but signing players that will probably take their places in time. However, it's a polar opposite what he's done with Iseka. He's publicly stated he isn't in his plans and thinks it's better if he moves on. Even if Iseka busts a gut in training he isn't going to be picked. How can you question a players application if the manager says he won't play anyway? Clearly it isn't a blank canvas based on training and your talking in riddles or the board are telling you not to pick a player. I like Duff so I think it's the latter and Duff is being forced to tell fibs in the pressers recently.
I cant see that myself. I don't see Duff as a liar. With regards to Iseka, he's had all pre-season and a few matches to show he's ready for match day squad selection and Duff has probably gotten fed up, so by inference its shape up or ship out. My thoughts are the Oulare was in our camp for far too long and was maybe a negative influence.
