For all those who I have offended here let me say again I do have some genuine respect for the old lady who passed away today and may she rest in peace.
Remember seeing her attending the Town Hall in the mid 80's - she has been great servant to the country - RIP your majesty!
Whatever your opinions on the monarchy, one woman who has shown true class for our country and devoted her life to the betterment of the UK. RIP your majesty.
I get it tbf. I think it's a couple of days where people who don't support the monarchy, maybe just back away from TV/radio and leave people to do their thing. I include myself in that.
You made you thoughts quite clear in your original post. A person has died, just show some respect or stay quiet .
I was going to leave it at that but seen as you want to try and tell me I shouldn't comment I will. I posted before the news broke that I do have respect for her. Her death doesn't change my views on the Monarchy or my right to express those views. If you don't like that then feel free to ignore me.
Balmoral was Her Majesty’s most favourite residence by far and it seems appropriate that she should pass away there. Job done. RIP
RIP your majesty. I'll tell you what, despite all his failings Boris Johnson has put out his own statement, far more human than the robotic text read out by our new PM. Quite touching actually.
I'm no monarchist and there are debates to be had further down the line about whether we need a head of state who can act as a unifying force in a polarised society. But for now I hope she rests in peace. She did her duty without fail or complaint for 70 years and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to swap my life for hers no matter what luxuries surrounded her.
It’s sad that a person has died, the rest of it I have singularly zero interest in. That’s the news avoided for the next few weeks, luckily I’m in Prague in a weeks time, some escape from it all.
Never going to happen the monarchy symbolises all the vested interests and power structures which keep people in their places. And those at the top aren’t going to surrender that power.
What, the pathological narcisstic liar, Boris Johnson? I'm all for giving people space to pay their respects, but I literally do not believe a single word that comes out of his cretinous mouth. Ever. He's probably waxing his jingo jungle drums and plotting his comeback, as we speak. I'd imagine Betty privately thought he was a complete cap end.
Wrong place? it's a bloody Football forum I'm not stood outside Buckingham Palace shouting about it. It was a fairly innocuous comment anyway. Wrong time? Perhaps though given my comment was directly related to the immediate change and continuity of the Monarchy upon the moment of the Queens passing it would have been hard to make it another time.
The queen and now the King do not rule over anyone and have not done so for many years. They are a figure head and I would rather have a monarch than a president such as Trump.
