Not the main event (don't panic), just those of the subjugated peasants who were due to say their final goodbye to their loved ones on the same day as our Maj. In some bizarre, perverse & frankly ****ed up idea of 'respect', the last bit of any I might have had, has just flown out the window.
Oh & hospitals appointments, serious or otherwise, are cancelled too, apparently..
Make of that what you will, as you stand to attention tonight at Oakwell.

Must admit cancelling funerals seems a bit wrong to me - I know they arent usually arranged for a bank holiday but once arranged to cancel at less than a weeks notice as there is a bigger and more important funeral happening in London is very harsh on those affected

Yet again, nothing to do with the royal family. So why are they doing it? I understand it being a state holiday, but it wasn't until a few days ago. Preposterous to cancel everything, certainly funerals where people are flying in, having days off work, etc etc

Just in Barnsley Hospital at the moment. All antenatal appointments are going ahead on Monday. Hope newspapers aren’t exaggerating again.

Suppose it rightly gets people riled up, and they click to read it all themselves. Certainly worked on me.

Not really. You'd never have to cancel a funeral booked in for Xmas Day, because you wouldn't have been able to book it in the first place.

(Not read the article, so I only have the OP to go on).

I know someone who's had their lymphodema hospital appointment cancelled here in Huddersfield for next Monday. Bonkers a 24/7 venue is cancelling appointments instead of looking after their health like they are there to do.

As far as I can see its like an extreme bank holiday, same rules just BH chucked in short notice.
Think cancelling funerals and ops is out of order though!
Suppose its one of those once in a lifetime events that lots of folks will be wanting to watch though and businesses in general will be struggling for staff.

My Nan, who I was very close to, was cremated on Good Friday, the reason being that I was flying out on holiday for a fortnight on Easter Sunday, so my mum and my uncle had it brought forward especially so I could attend. I was working in Brighton A&E at the time, and the Nurse Manager just stopped short of accusing me of lying, because she didn’t believe anyone would have a service on a Bank Holiday, or that we’d drive up to Barnsley and back in one day. Lost any respect I still had left for her after that.

Why couldn't they have just had the funeral on the Sunday, or would that not be forcing enough deference on people?

That's so wrong. But this not the blame of the Royal though.

I remember when Charles and Diana got married and the world sort of stopped for that. Except it didn’t. My then wife was a Casualty nurse on duty at Salisbury General and I took a portable telly in so that staff and patients could watch it in the waiting room. There were the usual numbers waiting as well as normal staffing levels.
I think it’s appalling If so many pre-arranged important events are cancelled because of HM’s funeral.

I doubt it is, but still reflects badly on them.. The establishment is out of control, choose how you look at it..

It isn't mate. Literally says it in the article you posted. I dont think they'd dare anyway with their precarious position already.
