That is actually the maddest thing I've ever seen in my life. I was convinced someone had got the wrong end of the stick but they genuinely are booting everyone out for 24 hours. They'll never recover from this if they go ahead with it, will they? On normal Bank Holidays they'd charge more!
I wouldn't know, but I don't think it would be a royal decision. But people will point the finger & Charles was never that popular. Whoever these bigwigs are, they should be outed for their decisions.
I'm not sure how one funeral can be deemed more important than any other. But perhaps that's just me.
I know it's completely anecdotal, but I find this whole thing absolutely bonkers. Of all the people I know even vaguely (comprising my staff, my friends, my family, my regular customers, other business owners, their staff and local people I know well enough to chat to on the street), exactly one of them has said that he might go down to London for the funeral. As far as I can tell the rest have no interest in any of it whatsoever. Looking at the press, I've never felt quite so much like I'm living in a parallel universe!
I was being a bit ironic when I referred to a more important funeral - to those having funerals cancelled theirs is far more important than someone they dont know and probably never met - even if she had been Queen. I will take the day and probably watch the funeral but if I was doing a job like undertaker or even catering for a wake Id expect to go in and work guessing Weddings are being canned as well
Complete shambles. This country is proper weird. Although this did make me chuckle, despite my many disagreements with TM over the subject. Well played.
Up until 2020 I would have never believed such stupid decisions could be made by so many different bodies that serve no logical purpose at all. However it's just another day in Clown World now.
It's all getting a bit silly now. Hope it's a nice day, I'll give the grass a cut, hopefully last time this year.
if centre parcs customers are looking for a place to stay on monday night, they could always try holding up a sign that says ‘not my king’ and i’m sure the metropolitan police will find them a room.
You're working minimum wage at a crematorium/funeral directors/chauffeur firm/pub doing the wake/florists/catering business doing a job you hate. Everyone else in the country gets a paid holiday but you don't, how do you feel?
Everyone else in the country won't be getting a day off and often it is the lowest paid who have to work weekends and Bank Holidays ect as a matter of course, so probably fairly normal.
Or maybe you’re a royalist and want to go? I get certain careers are not able to have these kind of days off…. It does just seem to me like a big fuss, when it seems it’s mostly a media frenzy…
