I haven’t seen any mentions of his performance yesterday. I thought he was excellent and like a lot of supporters I had severe criticism of his games last season. But I thought he was one of the best and marshalled the defence well, such that apart from one attempt in the first half Newcastle did nothing. He also made several excursions out of defence and set up a number of attacks.
    Well done Jasper! ✅

What about the left-sided lad with the free-kick - does he look ready for first team action?

Aye, Jasper played well. Marshalled the defence really well. Jamie Searle didn't have a save to make really, which is credit to how well the defence played.

I was going to post something similar about Jasper.

I'd also like to add praise for another oft maligned young lad, Will Hondermarck. He put himself about yesterday and was all over the pitch, without really putting a foot out of place.

Overall, a great performance by many young lads.

There’s a reasonable chance that he’s a good quality player thrown into the championship in a failing team too soon!

He was way out of his depth in the championship like many of the other players . Not his fault I may add. Looks a decent laker and he's grafting so well done to him

He played well. Seems to be very good against kids but just not quite there against senior players, a loan would have done him wonders in my opinion, subject of course to a league 2 club willing to take him. Still think he's got the best name in the squad!

Haha it wasn't intended that way! When Val first played him in bit parts, I thought he looked very capable, since we shoe-horned him in, scapegoated him & possibly harmed his progress, I think he's struggled massively. I think a fresh start in another league for a season would have done him the world of good mate. I actually think he tackles quite well, the problem is his positioning & composure, he panics and makes mistakes, especially on the ball. Perhaps he could have had a full season in league 2 against senior players, and have a defining season, just like we did with Mowatt and possibly Kane!

Did well but never has looked convincing in the championship or this season. I think a loan move could have done him good shame nothing came about.
