25 years ago I was working in Sports projects where we took groups of disadvantaged children to a different city, stayed in hotels, gave them a sportscamp, trained their school staff and parents in sports leadership. I’m now writing funding bids to give kids one hour of exercise and a meal parcel home.
Thank goodness there are people like you who still care Fired, this current sorry state of affairs needs people like you
So in a way the times are still the same,we still got underprivileged children, but now we have no money to give them trips out etc, wonder if we ever get to stage where there are no poor people or is that an impossible dream
On the current trajectory the Tories will get their dream of no poor people because they’ll all be dead.
Yes sadly, can’t see it getting better anytime soon, who would have thought in 2022 it would get like this ,everyone expects future to be brighter
Thanks fired, for giving me another opportunity to thank all the red wall voters who helped put these shysters in!
Dead or irrelevant. "Many men of course became extremely rich, but this was perfectly natural and nothing to be ashamed of, because no one was really poor, at least no one worth speaking of." Douglas Adams - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Gallery
Why do people like Jeff bezos need more money? I would be building hospitals and schools and devising ways of heating and feeding the world…. But these massive hitters just clamour for more. It really confuses me. Never really understood why people need to be mega rich.
If you're suggesting Jeff Bezos should be building schools and hospitals, I'm fully expecting to see both within my lifetime. But Amazon branded and run for profit, rather than some grand philanthropic gesture!
Hate to bring politics into it but its what 12 years of Tory Rule brings - the very rich get richer the poor and middle incomes get poorer Austerity and "trickle down" economics demonstrably dont work - so obviously we are going for more of the same wonder if we can steal the Finnish government https://scoop.me/housing-first-finland-homelessness/
It’s very depressing. There have always been people with money, and people without but the extremes are becoming more exaggerated. No one in this country should be scratching around for basics like food, heat and water.
