    After having a walk around and I’ve got to say Barnsley looks fantastic, a massive well done to all involved, yeah yeah I know there’s still places that need a face lift or just demolition but the glassworks and square are amazing

    Once they've done the glassworks I hope they do the other side of town around the post office next. Needs some sort of renovating and brightening up as it's quite the soulless walk into town if you are coming in that way

    From the last census only Wakefield, Leeds and Selby had bigger population increases in the whole of Yorkshire over the past 10 years.

    As far as I’m aware there are plans to relocate Barnsley Delivery Office (although it’ll be a while yet) and I can’t imagine the Post Office will stay up there once the DO is gone.

    Would anyone want those buildings once they’ve moved? I doubt there’d be much demand!

    If you stand in Peel Square with your back to Greggs and look across the square at the stone building opposite, you’ll see the initials KGH in the stonework at first floor level. There was a ginnel at the side which was where the entrance was. It could get lively back in the day.

    Sure I heard somewhere that the big ugly former BHS building is going to be demolished. That would improve the look of the town centre if true and they make it a nice area. Covers some sqr yardage that building.
