The irony is, the last time we played at Charlton, their stewards were spoiling for a fight all afternoon. I stood at the top of the stairs for 5 seconds trying to work out where my mate had gone, and I was threatened with ejection. Very little in the clip above that suggested anything untoward, but I'll reserve judgment.
Those stewards were appalling that day. I think someone on here remarked that a number of them were ex-prison wardens at Belmarsh!
They'd watched me walk into the stand. She told me to take a seat, I said I'm just trying to work out where my mate went, and she said you have 5 seconds to take a seat or you're being ejected. And I'm not even exaggerating, that was the full extent of the conversation.
**** journalism again. A bit about apparent trouble..... Including videos which appear to show no evidence, and when a 90 degree change in direction as they speak of the match itself. Is it a match report or a crowd report as the headline would have you believe?
That's proper crap on their behalf! Like a blast the past, when stewards at a lot of clubs seemed to act like the Gestapo on occasion!!
Never ever understood the amount of ***** the stewards get, they're there for our own safety. A thankless task if you ask me.
On out last visit to Charlton stewards were worse ever witnessed. Barnsley supporters liaisons even said how bad the were from entering ground to leaving ground.
Im pretty sure the club will have the whole thing on video and if the Steward really was out of order steps will be taken - as others have said above from the clips posted you cant really form any judgement. Hard to see why a steward would just randomly pick a guy and accuse him of taking beer in with no reason
