He's 30 year old mate. Are you basing that off this one game? He was great for us against Italy, made some great saves & kept us in it

Still baffled why the clock hits 90 minutes , we are drawing & have a corner so we take off Bellingham & bring on Henderson, can someone explain the logic behind that please .

I wouldn’t say there was any great saves in the Italy match ,
His distribution is terrible imo for both club and country and it’s a criticism from some pundits .
I didn’t know he was thirty if I’m honest and I can see why he hadn’t had chance before .
I’m not a fan thought he flapped at a couple against Italy when a cool head was needed , I’d take others before him to WC

Thought we were really good tonight but Maguire and Pope errors cost us.

Maguire can't play in World Cup. His confidence is shot.

Better to find out tonight than in a quarter final but I don't expect Southgate to do the right thing and replace him.

Been a big fan of his over the years, but he’s not playing at United and not playing well for England. If he’s picked, it’s only on past achievements and perhaps his influence in and around the place.

Two McGuire errors led to two goals , one a penalty which fair enough he’s a defender in our box maybe you can forgive the tackle normally but he gave the ball away unnecessarily in the first place ,
The other he was almost in the oppos penalty area and tried dribbling wtf.

Never been a fan of Sterling, and i don’t think he had a particularly bad game tonight. I just think he’s not clinical enough. Think he’s been very fortunate to have had the amount of games he’s had for England. Time to move on and let the others take us forward. Mount wasn’t messing about. Seemed well up for it.

    Herbie Kane wasn't playing lol.

Hey its been a good second half at least and I hope this gives us some positives to take into the WCup.
Southgate will definitely get the praise he deserves if he gets us to play like it matters, with guts and for the three lions etc.
Play to our strengths instead of this ultra defensive shoite, because if not, we'll be home before the postcards arrive.

Why the frig did it take being 2-0 down before he loosened the shackles a bit?

    The man is a fraud.

This might be wake up call he needs because if we revert back to negative, choking 5hite he'll get his p45.

Coincidentally there was a joke post about Schopp and Asbaghi. I see similarities to Southgate.

The positive football under Schopp v Sheff Utd and Bristol City yielded nil poit. Yet it was the best football we played under him after the QPR game. The team had turned a corner going forward. He was duly sacked.

Asbaghi took over and played the negative Nigel stuff. The team didn't turn a corner until the board backed him to play more expansive stuff by bringing in Bassi and Quina. It was too late. Then fearing for his job he went defensive and we were relegated.

Back to Southgate I'd put him in the Schopp bracket and sack him because as good as the performance was tonight he'll revert back to type. Then the football may be more what we became accustomed to under Asbaghi.

    The parallels are uncanny.

Onto Edwards at Watford. He was out of his depth and the board acted accordingly. Sentiment in football gets you nowhere. Exactly where England will get in Qatar under Southgate.

That game against Sheff Ure is one of the few where Iseka actually looked dangerous, alongside Cole. And we took the lead at Brizzle as well, but ended up blowing it.
And in fairness we can't totally blame Schopp as much, when the players themselves weren't doing it for him and just dropping their heads.

Southgate has himself to blame though for sheer favoritism, towards out of form and out of confidence players.
I wish we could blame this recent slackness on the fact that its 'only' the Nations league. But I fear it could be worse than that and some of them just might not be good enough.
Surely this will be his final tournament, but if we do well, that might make him stay even longer.

Pope is like Mings - an accident waiting to happen. He's far too nervous for the world stage. Must be a better option.

Ramsdale before Pope for me, also I'd be playing Ben White instead of Maguire and Abraham instead of Sterling. Problem is Southgate had time to test these players during these last two games but stuck with the known entities, now he can hardly start White for his first game in a year for England can he? Whatever, having Dier and Maguire in the back 3 guarantees our early exit in November, especially if Stones is injured.

343 can only work if the wingbacks are able to create and not play scared like most of Southgate`s players do.

To be fair to Dier here's been one of the better defenders lately, been really good under Conte. Thought he was OK against Italy too. I'm with you though, itd be tomori, stones and white for me if he's having a back 3. Maddison has been exceptional last 18 months and its criminal hes still being overlooked. Agree about Ramsdale too, but he will pick Pickford still all day long. I actually think Pope is the best shot stopper by a country mile out of those 3, but everything else he lacks in comparison, especially on the world stage, which is unfortunate because he's very good.

Cant see nothing going great for us in this world cup, anyone half decent and we will be knocked out bud.
