Wow, didn’t see that coming for McCarthy - he only came on to replace Cundy when he got a knock so I’m guessing he’s done it in training, I don’t recall him going down with it Saturday, unless someone can correct me? Hopefully Cundy is fit, otherwise it’s potentially a bit of a rejig. I like Williams in the back three but he was just finding his feet at wing back so it’d be a shame to move him again now. That said we do have Centre back cover; edwards could play right and Kitching on the left behind Cadden too. Still a shame though. Wolfe would be a miss if Connell was out for longer but I’m hoping he’s fit now.
Desperate news. Practically career ending. Out for the season then rehab too. Then the niggles brought on by this injury.
Nasty injury, that's what ended Brian Clough's playing career. Still with modern keyhole surgery techniques, it's not as bad as is used to be so hopefully he'll be back playing next season.
Not anymore mate, unless they're very, very unlucky. Still a major issue for the lad during his developmental years, but I think its better having it now than at 28/29 at his peak and potentially taking it into his 30s
He did it during the game and played the last 20 minutes after the rupture, not realising what had happened
ACL isn't career ending anymore. Typical recovery time in the NFL is 9-12 months. I think I recall ACL injuries did for Dave Watson and Robin van der Laan in the same week. Watson could probably have gone on to play for England if they had the skills we do today.
****, he can’t have been on that long when he did it then either? Having suffered a catastrophic knee injury in a car accident (ACL, pcl, mcl [plus tendon and muscle damage] all gone - and several surgeries later I can’t straighten my leg fully, can walk but slowly and with a limp, can’t get out of bed some days), I shudder when anyone has a knee ligament rupture. Thankfully his prognosis is much better than mine.
Really unfortunate for him. Wish him luck in his recovery. I’m currently recovering from an ACL reconstruction and meniscus tear surgery myself takes a while to get over and its my second!!! Certainly not career ending these days, surgery and recovery techniques have moved forward a lot in the last 10 years
I do hope he recovers at the fastest rate not at all nice for the lad .Who will step up to take his place?
