There will always be an exception to the rule if you look hard enough. Generally though managers will want to buy winners.
Not really better players leave clubs that have been relegated- always do. if they only want winners this would never be the case. Teams go down not individuals
What's that supposed to mean? You made a statement of fact, but it wasn't a statement of fact, it was just your opinion, and it was an opinion that many people don't share, yet you used it to try to devalue someone else's opinion, and then you come back with this sarcastic remark? You got a mirror in your house mate? Take a look in it. Tell us what you see.
The best centre half we’ve had in 20 years in my opinion. Can’t include Stones in that as he wasn’t a CB during his time with us.
I thought Helik was good but Pinnock was the best CB we've had since De Zeeuw, by orders of magnitude. Nobody even close.
Head it block it type of centre half as good as we've had in recent times but the modern game especially higher up the league's demands much more Pinnock far more cultured. Maybe we kept our best centre half just shows you what confidence can do.
Player leaves club, finances shored up by said player leaving club. At the time of transfer ‘we should have got more’ ‘ Our club never gets real value’ One month later, he was rubbish anyway we’ve had way better centre halves, he’ll be below us next year.
Nah, I think Pinnock was probably better on the ball but he wasn’t a better out and out defender. His calmness and time on the ball means he’s playing higher level. None of the rest in the same league though. And I rated all of them.
Liked Helik but think he'd struggle to make my top 20 centre halves to play for Barnsley during my lifetime. (Watched em since 1966 afore one of you wisecracks step in ) But time on his side to make it big.
I think so, its easy to forget just how good Roberts was/is, he was made Captain for us, currently approaching 200 games in the Championship, we got more money for him then we got for Helik and he's worth more now, can't be all bad can he?
