There`s a thread on Owlstalk saying that they have a run of seven games now where max points should be achievable as Accy`s are the highest placed team (9th) they face and Moore should be sacked if this doesn`t happen. I`m thinking that the rest of us should just give up and let them go up as champions by default.
I overheard a bell end at work telling someone that the other 5 in the top 6 have been bogey teams to them so far this season.
Saw a post the other day someone saying they don't play any of the top sides until they play us in January. That was kinda nice of them.
A bit like us in 2015/16. I looked at the fixtures at the beginning of December and thought if we go on a good run we could squeak automatic promotion. As it turns out we might have achieved that but for silly dropped points to Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Southend.
To think all three are already in non league, with Scunny looking like going in to national league north, and it wasn't that long ago we played them at our current level.
Crikey. That's optimism. In December 2015 I was just hoping for a shot on goal, or get shut of Lee Johnson. Or both....
Wendy are the least of our worries IMO. They may make the top 6, but I think Plymouth will run away with the league. Ipswich, Pompey, Derby, Bolton & Peterbrough .... & Wendy, yes & us in the running for other places. A top six finish for us would be a major achievement. Should some money come in for another striker in January, who knows. All I know is Duff is doing a great job & the players are running their blood to water.
We need to aim high and look up at Plymouth and Ipswich. Defeats should be met with disappointment at failure to close the gap not looking over our shoulders. Under Duff the mindset looks to be bang on.
Proper dark days, I was working at the Steel works in Scunny as contractor. In October they announced all contractors to be sacked but they kept me on till Christmas to finish the project I was working on so, bottom of League 1 and out of work....
I was still optimistic because the team was playing well and having some desperate luck. I remember the Port Vale game where Isgrove took it round the keeper and tripped over his own feet a yard from goal. I'm exaggerating it wasn't that bad.
I think we are, but reality has to kick in somewhere. Oh where are you now, Pussy Willow, That smiled on this leaf...
Between Bolton next Saturday and Peterborough on 3 December we've not got a bad run. Morecambe, Lincoln, FGR, Shrewsbury & MK Dons. I'd want us to take at least 10 points from those. Getting away trips to Bolton & Peterborough out of the way will also be a benefit - out of the current top 8 there'd only be Portsmouth left to play away from home. If we're top 3 or 4 after Peterborough I'd be looking at automatic promotion.
We were proper bad in 2015, plus Patrick wouldn't sack Johnson just before Christmas. Proper dark days, lowest league position for the last 43 years they were bad
Genuine question John. Why do you think Plymouth will run away with the league? Have you seen much of them? Not saying you're wrong by the way. I've just looked at their results, and they aren't remarkable. Obviously they're top on merit.
