A bit harsh, especially considering what happened to Luke Thomas. They're a young team, still gelling, who've been on an excellent run. We're miles ahead of where I expected us to be at this stage, but performances like today or Wycombe will unfortunately crop up from time to time.
Abject, woeful and a tough watch. Should make these players play in the pizza cup match on Tuesday as punishment.
Edwards’s inexplicably leaves the goal scorer and inexplicably runs towards an area where there are already red defenders and he’s all on his own . A ridiculous decision for a defender imo .
Possibly. But I think it's more that we're just an average team. Both Wycombe and Lincoln have put 3 past us at Oakwell without reply, so it's not like it's a bolt from the blue. We've played well in some games, worked hard in most, tended to be clinical in front of goal while the opposition have wasted chances, and scored some spectacular goals but we don't have anything like the quality of the last two teams promoted from this division. We'll lose a lot of games this season and mostly it will be because the opposition are better than us on the day.
Sad to say, but the result and performance seems to be in this squad's locker. Consistency is the key before we can realistically look to make a concerted push for the top of the table. Definitely a bad day at the office. But it's not the end of the world. It's only a few weeks since that excellent win at Wednesday.
The Lincoln game was effectively a reserve match so I wouldn't read too much into it, but other than that I completely agree with you. Duff is doing an excellent job with far more limited resources than we usually have when playing at this level. But at this stage in the team's development, bad days at the office will occasionally happen.
There's definitely a contrast between home and away form at the moment. We seemed to miss Thomas's energy. And the forwards will always lack the consistent quality that we'll need over the course of a season. That was both awful and disappointing.
I wouldn’t say it’s Exeters easiest points they’ll get this season but they didn’t have to work particularly hard or by any means defend an onslaught , All they had to do was wait while we played a lazy or wayward pass , which was most moves tbf and run at a defence that didn’t have any shape or structure or even any semblance of how to defend . If this is our form winning emphatically with teams not knowing how to contain us and then every other game play as if we just met on the field I’d say mid table for us this year .
I thought that was Cundy that positioned himself in the only place where he couldn't affect the game. Truly shocking defending whoever it was.
I was thinking the same, mate. & the lack of quick info, suggests it was bad. That can really affect players, especially the young uns..
Very difficult to watch. We'll have better days, I guess. And worse ones (Wycombe at home springs to mind.)
If Cole or Mads had of taken their clear chances it would have been a totally different game, the shocking defending for the second left us trying to force things. Bad performance that needs putting right next game.
I thought it was 24 but I could be wrong. Either way their striker couldn't believe his luck, only way he could miss was from laughing too much.
