Makes you wonder if the original guy is even a sparky and almost certainly not P certified. I know quite a few and their skill sets range from main suppliers, site to private and one thing they all have in common is the safety aspect. Some are more stringent than others but I don’t believe any of them would have done that.
I'm an apprentice trained electrical eng. mate. So very rarely get involved in domestic stuff. Can't be arsed. Doing the prep chasing etc. According to my mate who knew I was industrial. The guy quoted his qualifications on the advert. Lots of my mates in industry would do jobs on the side and I'd trust em all. And the many domestic/commercial sparks I know. This guy was obviously a wrong un. Daft thing was. The shower had a 2 position sw. To Bring in 1 or 2 elements. The guy told him to use position 1. (Half wattage) till he came to change the mcb. I said that will stop it tripping but if he fits a new un same size. That'll get tired n'all. And he was a lying b'std. And if he uprates to a 45A. The wiring and pull sw. Would be underrated. Think he accepted to use the shower on position 1 rather than have any hassle. I think most of joe public think if you say you are an electrician you are a master of all types of electrical work. My dad bless him once said "tha an electrician tha should be able to mend telly's." Trouble is. I've worked under managers in high positions who think same. " Av a look at mi car will tha" lol. Reply "I know how to drive the bugger that's it."
I gave you the extent of my knowledge at the time John, lol. I think you know the mate I refer to. But will not name him on here. As it wouldn't be apt. Si thi satdy.
