Used to be the place to be when the Old Pavilion closed. Also had one of the most aggressive bouncers who everytime he nodded at me as I walked in I was sure he was going to nut me. Good Luck to @mick woodhouse favourite player of all time.
Last one failed having very ambitious plans. Now in the wrong area of town for the clientele it wants to attract
Nicky Eaden is a cracking bloke. He's articulate and funny and he was such a good player for us. That goal against Sheffield United I will take to my grave. A highlight, not just of my time watching Barnsley, but of my life. Watching that team destroy all before them was soul enriching and Nicky, a Barnsley lad my age, was such an integral part of that. And he's a link back to Eric, because Mel would have let him go, but Eric kept him. I liked Mel, but if Nicky had been released we wouldn't have been promoted to the Premier League. Every single player in the promotion squad was vital. I'll go in his bar and I'll buy a beer and I'll shake the hand of a legend who made my life better.
I am happy he's back. Would like to see more of them. Fascinated me that we had so many of the 2006 gang in but none of the most successful group ever, despite plenty going on and having solid careers as coaches. Steve Davis. Neil Thompson. Dave Watson. Paul Wilkinson. Neil Redfearn. Nicky Eaden. Not a bad backroom staff.
Maybe because the links to the club that all those players had (Danny and Eric and John) were gone. And the regime that came after, well, I could say a lot about that, but my opinion is very unpopular, so it's not worth raking it up. Although I'm going to a little bit... There's a Patrick Cryne flag, but there isn't a Danny/Eric/John flag. I loved those 3rd division days compared to the Premier League. They were mint.
