Bring back Kwasi. Hunt is a terrible appointment. Someone who wants the UK to be more like the homeland of his wife China. Let's not forget he pushed for vaccine passports for everyone and want to make vaccines mandatory to have a social life or in the case of care workers a job. This is a new low even for that party.

If you really thought it couldnt get any worse you havent been paying attention
If he is as successful as Chancellor as he was as health secretary I think I need to look at converting all my saving to Euros or even Roubles as the pound will be worth very little by the next election

Liz truss, a Thatcher wannabe, within hours of being elected leader and unfortunately Prime minister of this country she has created turmoil in the markets, far worse she has created uncertainty, anxiety and fear amongst the people of our country.
Jeremy Hunt (there's a nice fitting rhyme there) a man with jelly where a spine should be, my dear god! The man has a disastrous record whatever post he has held.
The politics of the Devil take the hind most must be stopped.
The Labour Party with faults of its own, must push the advantage whilst the Tories are on the ropes, along with the very powerful and disgruntled 1922 Committee, this stupid, mind numbingly dumb Prime minister should be at the end of her premiership before she inflicts more pain and misery upon us all.

It's always been about that though hasn't it? And I agree with you on political ideology on all sides. I feel that I need to post this every time i comment on a political thread because i have seen others chased down who have, but once again, to confirm, i have never in my life voted tory (not that my alternative vote got me anywhere); i just find it nauseating when the BBS is routinely flooded with tory posts. It's a form of sado-masochism.

No it’s not always been about that, (with this govt and predecessors) this is the point. I’m not having a go at you or anything. We have witnessed and continue to witness political ideology of the Tory right coming to the forefront of policy making. Truss and Kwarteng between have crashed the economy and try to tell us it’s good for growth as their very rich friends get even richer on the back of it (even if the ‘mini- budget’ is fully reversed) and many are staring at a financial abyss. This is much much more than political flag waving. We need a change in direction and the sooner the better for the vast majority of us all.

No flag waving here, I truly can't identify with any of them right now. But maybe we are talking at cross purposes. You said 'this is about all ours, our children’s and their children’s’ futures' and my response was to say it has always been about that, which it has. We can only speak for ourselves, and I believe that politics from the day i was born has been about ours, our children's and their children's' futures.' What those in power choose to implement to the benefit or detriment of our, our children's and their children's' futures' is what elections are won and lost on - or they used to be. It just so happens that this country has grown increasingly divided, hateful and selfish, and therefore it's hard to see the wood for the trees.

Macleod spent 11 of his 30 days in hospital, was released and had a fatal heart attack 2 days later. At the moment, they are in a competition to see who had the least days in Parliament as Chancellor - with Zahawi sitting out the summer recess and Kwarteng the mourning period. Hunt is the fifth Chancellor of this Parliament - as many as Labour have had since 1967! (Javid, Sunak, Zahawi, Kwarteng and Hunt vs Callaghan, Jenkins, Healey, Brown and Darling).

Macleod was replaced by Barber - of the famous "Barber Boom" that caused all the problems in the 70s - and if he had lived would likely have made it much harder for Thatcher to become leader when she did. His untimely death was, with hindsight, not a good event for the country.

It really isn’t hard to see the wood for the trees though with this lot. Their policies are so transparent, they are short-termist and designed to benefit the few whilst conning the many ( well at least trying to) I agree, politics has increasingly become those things you have mentioned, but do you really have to ask yourself why?

It's smoke and mirrors designed to confuse. And as for the things i mentioned, i was referring to the wider society that has allowed these things to happen i.e. selfishness, division, breakdown of the family etc.

Well selfishness in that context goes hand in hand with shrinking back the role of the state and leaving crucial and vital things such as public services to the whim of market forces, big shout out for Thatcher there. Division, well the toxic Brexit debacle is the pinnacle of that.

Truss doesn't see the week out from here. It may be "I offer my resignation, effective once the Party has elected a new leader", but the announcement will come within a week.
