    Anyone from here going to St. James’ tomorrow for the opening World Cup game?

    I honestly cannot wait! Should be a crowd of around 45k there is what they’re hoping for. Should be a cracker of a game!

    You're a bit early as we don't play them until the first Saturday in January. Unless of course we reach the third round of the FA Cup then Exeter will be a bloody night game.

    Not sure what you mean. Australia, New Zealand, England, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, France- on their day any of them could win it.

    Yep, what a top performance against what was meant to be a better stronger Samoa team.
    That surely has earned us a Semi final place at least, and home advantage in this colder weather might be a massive extra boost for us.
    We will have to beat either or both of the top two teams though, if we want to win it.

    As the dirtiest player in the game said..
    "To be the man, you've gotta beat the man, wooooo!". :D

    This is the Rugby League World Cup not Union...Australia have won 8 out of the last 9....apart from 1954 they've been in every final.

    What a day yesterday was! Great venue as well for the opening game, packed to the rafters it was!

    statement won by England against a side that was heavily tipped to do well.

    Got to agree. The RL world Cup has always been one of the most underwhelming competitions in world sport. Loads of no hopers turn up plus England and New Zealand and Australia win it.

    All subjective I guess Hooky.
    I reckon a good Union match easily tops a good League match but a bad Union match is worse than a bad League one. I can't really get invested in either to be honest. :)

    I’m not really a union fan but have heard that Wasps have gone into receivership and all staff and playing staff have been made redundant.
    So sad for such a historic club

    It's been a catalogue of mismanagement by a club that's forgotten it's roots....they've gone from owning their own ground in London, basically selling it off for housing and frittering the money away paying rent to QPR and Wycombe before finally settling in that well known London suburb of Coventry. How many traditional lifelong supporters are going to drive a 220 mile round trip for a home game?
    Hardly surprising that they're in the s**t.

    I tend to find rugby fanatics. Only prefer their own code. And diss the other. So I like to think I'm unbiased, (we never played it at wombwell high school) although I do go and watch featherstone now an again. Due to brother moving there. And found it better to watch on tv.
    My view on union is it's legalised violence and much less exciting.
