He came back to England and got a job at British Leyland later in life working permanent afters, the shift he worked on had terrible luck, car engines not starting ,doors not fitting right ,paint peeling off ,the early shift never had a problem, his work mates blamed him for it saying it was THE CURSE OF THE TWO-TEN CAR MEN :)

A few years back there was a exhibition in the Cooper Art Gallery about a Barnsley egyptologist. I guess it's the same guy.

Joann Fletcher, she's a well respected name in archaeological circles; from Cuduth I think. Won a couple of awards (Royal TV awards & a BAFTA) a few years back beating the likes of David Attenborough.

Different person I think Marlon. I'm pretty sure it was a man, 19th century vintage. Had to go to somewhere like Egypt for the climate as he had TB or something.
Either way it seems we've had our share of Egyptologists.

Pity we can't unearth a local goalscorer now that would solve our problems

Ernest Harold was more Taff than Tyke !

born to Welsh parents in Barnsley in 1877 - brought up and schooled in Caerfyrddin/Carmarthen.
