I'm happy we got our blip out of the way, early on. There's nowt worse than it happening on the run in to promotion...
People keep saying he knew what he was taking on. Yes maybe so but so what? He probably was told the club was skint. That were still paying 2 bone idle belgiums and your 2 strikers will be cole and norwood thats pretty much it, anyone we can get out for will be sold and we will bring you in a few freebies. At the time we were told it was a long term project so lets give it that and be patient. And we dont have a better squad that most. Very debatable.
I think it's harsh to say we've not invested any of it into the squad. We've signed 11 players. We'll be contributing the wages to some of the loanees we've signed I imagine, and as you say, be contributing to the wages of the players gone out on loan. If I remember right, Patrick was putting a million a season in to keep us as competitive as he could. The current board have just put £4m in to try and foot the shortfall due to lost revenue from relegation. The backing is there, its just a case of whether it'll be enough.
You definitely watched a different game to me if you don't think we played well against Wednesday. That's possibly the worst example you could have picked. They had 3 shots on target. A team with the budget they have should really be having more. But we limited them to that. We were first to every second ball, we moved the ball around well and with purpose. We won every midfield battle. And we had our own chances to go further in front. Thomas had a great one just before our second goal. We were better than them that day. They might not have been at their best, but a lot of that was down to how we pressed and hurried them. We haven't done that anywhere near often enough this season, granted, but you find it more difficult to do when the opposition is happy for you to have the ball, like so many teams we've faced this season are. It's okay to admit that we're probably a mid-table team at present. You don't always have to say we're the best or worst team in the league. It's a period of transition, have a bit of patience, and perspective.
Yes we have signed 11 players how many were sold or let go we sold more season tickets than i expected we cant sell 8k season tickets and play the likes of moon on a regular basis we had to sign some players. The owners have put 4 million in to keep us afloat? The shitshow last season was their fault the player recruitment and the 2 clowns as head coaches.
It was down to them we got relegated and lost all the revenue we have ,so it's their fault they have to NOW spend some of their own money.
But we still added 11 players to the wage bill. You might not like them, but they're here and being paid. Not sure what Jasper Moon has to do with anything, as he's not playing. I think you're confusing the current board with the outgoing board. The people responsible for last season aren't the people who have just put £4m in to rectify their mistakes.
We sold probably 6-8 million pounds worth of players we also released others to get them off the wages, we were always going to bring in some players when ypu let players go you generally have to bring others in unless we do a raffle before games and fans get a game. The recruitment last window hasnt been great again from the ceo were definitely short upfront. And my comment on moon was based on if we hadnt signed any players to replace the sold ones we would be playing the likes of moon, jalo ect as there would be no other option unless we did the pre game raffle and fans got a go.
I expected a inconstant mid table finish this season. Nothing I have seen so far this season has made me change that view. Yes we had a good run and we all hoped that we could perhaps have a tilt at the play offs. It's still a possibility of course and more likely if we did the unthinkable and strengthened the squad in January. The reality is we have a unbalanced, young Squad who will go through poor spells. It wasn't realistic to expect wonder's off the back of a good month nor is it realistic to write them off (coach included) off the back of a bad one. We're just bang average currently.
Everybody that thinks he's great will back him, everybody that knows a thing or two about football, knows its not rocket science to get 11 players to play football, he's not able to do that, so i'm out, a decent Coach could get any footballers to play football, when was the last time you saw a Barnsley team put a string of more than 3 passes t'gether. Exactly.
Not enough to claim they ought to have won the game, unless we don’t we count our own missed chances and near misses.
There is some truth there and I’m certainly not on the managers back. At the same time you have to say our squad is probably better than or equal to Exeter, Morecambe or Lincoln but we were outplayed and the manager outthought by all of them. So I’d say plenty of improvement needed on and off the pitch.
