    Seems the Crynes are against a UK takeover but others and with so many others involved it would be difficult to see through. Cut down from Sun this morning.

    Against a UK takeover because foreign ownership has worked so well for us hasn't it.

    I am told, by someone with links to the club, that a takeover is being seriously discussed. The £3.5m is to keep the club running until it is completed. At that point the current shareholders get their money back. Might be boll@cks, but that’s what I’m told.

    Anyone notice a load of people sat in the far west upper stand yesterday near away end it’s the first time I’ve seen it used in years.

    Is it just who it is rather than them being from the UK? Someone like Mike Ashley for instance? Not that I'm saying it is him, I've no idea.

    I wouldn't mind Mike Ashley buying the club,we'd be cheaper than Huddersfield or SWFC.

    What does nationality have to do with the ability to successfully run a business?

    How I understand the OP, there's a UK based takeover bid that the current ownership don't like the look of. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're holding out for money from a foreign investor.

    I'd be careful of what you wish for when it comes to Ashley. Seemed to be a very slippery character from what I read about his trying to get the Derby ownership.

    So we’ve gone from an article in the Sun to Mike Ashley? Any evidence about whether there is a bidder? To who it may be?
    Wouldn’t surprise me if our current owners would consider a sale.

    While I agree about Ashley completely let's not paint our former owner as morally beyond reproach. The business world is a very murky place.

    because he has zero connection to the fabric of the community, and I would have to assume any interest would be pure self-interest. unanimously hated by the fans of his last club. would absolutely view the football club and every square inch of land, as collateral.

    but yeah, totally hypothetical. for all the reasons that have just played out, I can't imagine BMBC will budge on selling the land to anyone, any time soon. and without the land, the club is almost worthless. I suspect there's more chance of Laura Ashley being interested, than Mike Ashley.
