Obviously loads to choose from! Personally, for me, Rotherham and Enfield in 80/81... unbelievable support; great performance too! Didn't make the 2-1 at Anfield, but did so the League Cup draw. But, seeing this is the FA Cup, what's everyone's favourite awayday down the years?
Anfield has to be my best but Boro away even though we lost , fantastic following a great entertaining team who would have given any first division ( prem ) teams a game . Worst had got to be Rhyl .
Where to start, obviously the Anfield win is up there, but going much further back, a late 2 goals in the 2-1 win at Bromsgrove, this was turning point of Danny Wilson’s fortunes with us, up to and including this game he had been dire, but after this game he was superb. 3-3 draw at Stoke after leading 3-1, which lead to the replay which saw the launch of the Stevie Cooper handspring celebration.
Man City away in the 5th round in 92, my first away game. Knee deep in p### in the away concourse, kipper Jackson invaded the pitch and had to be caught by the stewards. We lost two nil but I loved every minute! Scrapping like mad after the game, both fans really going at it. My dad kept me at a safe distance but showed me what was going off and why its a good idea to keep out of the way!
Enfield away. Just for our support, about 9k I think and the size of the crowd, 35,000 ish. Boro away. My 21st birthday. Brilliant performance. Rovrum away.
Anfield for me too. I was there with JLWBL. Listening to the Scouse version of PoG on the coach home was priceless.
Strangely, Bromsgrove away was a good day out and we got the right result in the end. But the best Cup away games were the 2 at Anfield
Got to be the Enfield game at White Hart Lane for me. The following that night was phenomenal, unfortunately for me and my mates, we arrived late and went in the first turnstile we came to - at the wrong end.... Also the 2-2 draw at Bumhole lane in 1990 wasn't bad.
Enfield away we took 7,500 officially... their ground capacity was the same number i seem to recall. I remember a policeman saying to my mate "Fack me! You've brought as many as Arsenal. How big is Barnsley?" 2 'specials' and 58 coaches ...
Anfield for me but one of my first real memories of the F.A cup was a 5th tie against oldham at Boundry Park, must’ve been early 90’s with my dad and his mates, it’s when they were in the Premiership, a can’t remember the score, I was only young but you could just feel it was that bit different, the magic of the cup eh?
I think we went with the sun didn't we? We played them a few times in the cup, lost one nil when they were in premier league, think Andy Ritchie scored for them. Then we played them a few times around 95/96 one was called off due to fog and then Gunnar Halle cheated us in the rearranged fixture
Leicester away 1990, won 2-1, think Brendon o Connell and Steve copper scored within minutes of each other to put us 2-1 up. Brilliant scenes in the away end. Sheff Utd away that same cup run was also brilliant, 2-2 away, went on the special train, took about 8k that day.
Liverpool away - went on the train with Alityke. It was well documented on here at the time - it was “a reyt day art”.
Me n dad went in car, sat in home end, absolutely rammed. Definitely more than 7.5k there. White heart lane only had 3 sides at the time
