We welcome MK Dons to Oakwell for just the 5th time in their short existence. Unbelievably, its 8 years since their last visit to Oakwell, a game which I recall listening to on a balcony in Tenerife. It was a unique encounter to say the least. A game which saw us trailing 5-0 with less than 10 minutes left to play, and yet only losing by 2 goals. We saw Devante Cole score his first Barnsley goal (I think) during his original spell here. We also saw a young Dele Alli get on the scoresheet. Away from home this season, MK Dons have had a mixed time of it. Just 10 points from 8 games, albeit they are unbeaten in their last 3 away games in all competitions. They have the 14th best away record, which is in stark contrast to their home form, where they are the worst side in the division, with just 4 points. In the other 4 meetings at Oakwell, we have lost the last 2 vs MK, after picking up 4 points from the first 2. So you would say we're due a good result from them. In fact it's 16 years since our last victory over MK Dons at Oakwell. One ever present from every meeting with MK, is Dean Lewington. He'd already surpassed 10 years with the club on his last visit to the well, but he's now up to 18 years with MK (and a year pro with Wimbledon before), over 750 career appearances for them and still an ever present in their back line. The 38 year old Lewington is something we should look to exploit, especially with the pace of Devante Cole. And therefore I fancy us to win 2-0 with Cole and Phillips on the score sheet.
If we get an early goal I can see a very comfortable afternoon for us. However, if we concede first then they'll shut up shop and we'll fail to break them down. Luckily, we seem to be through our sticky patch, so I'm going for the first option. 3-0 reds.
If we score first we will win. If they score first they win. Otherwise it’s a 0-0 draw 0-0 is my prediction
Barnsley win an i'll be watching it thanks to all the staff at o'connells bar, fuertaventura, C,O,Y,R, emphatic 5 nil
Telling young Alfie about te 3-5 game last night didn't a young Deli Ali score a hatrick for mk they had a decent side back then
Shuddered when I saw the ref's name. Andy Haines (who I can't remember being good, bad or indifferent) was the man in charge of Altrincham 1 Reds 0. I still don't think I've properly dried out from that game and I'll never work out what the foook 8LJ was doing with his line-up/tactics. Any Reds supporter at that game other than Patrick would have sacked the Powerpoint Pilchard at half-time! 2-1 Reds today.
He scored their 3rd goal. They actually had 5 different goalscorers that day. Will Grigg was one of them too if I remember right.
