Most frustrating game ever for whatever reason? For me May 1977 Barnsley 3 Exeter 4. We were 3-0 up with 20 minutes to go. We were 6th in the table (4th division) and they were 3rd behind Colchester and Cambridge
A lot to be said for that. Got ourselves up for two massive games against Liverpool and Chelsea then played with no spark whatsoever against a team we could easily have beaten. I blame the fat Welshman for not making the difference.
After the 2-2 last minute draw in the 2001/2 season and 3-3 draw in the 2003/4 season I hated Stockport County. Stockport County 2-2 Barnsley 2004/5 season. Having the win snatched away by a re-taken penalty.
Weird ones but the 2-5 at home vs Forest under Hecky and 3-5 at home to Ipswich under Keyf. Both live on sky to boot. Forest, we were above them in the table and went 1-0 and 2-1 up - but then Henri Lansbury scored two unbelievable goals to put them 3-2 up at half time after they'd spent about 30 seconds of the 45 mins in our half. We then battered them for the first 10 mins of the second half and were sucker punched. Then someone was sent off for us and they got a nonsense penalty. The Ipswich one was just surreal. 2-0 up and flying, sitting in the play off places as it stood and all set to batter a side who'd lost their last 7. For reasons as yet unexplained, Ipswich were possessed by prime Barcelona after half time and we by Penistone Church U12s. The season went downhill after that. 2 games where we ultimately ended up on the end of an embarrassing hiding when we should easily have smashed both.
I thought it was beating Leicester City away that kyboshed the 2011/12 season. After losing Drinkwater the season fell apart. I think we could have got by without Vaz Te but Butterfield's injury at the New Year followed by the loss of Vaz Te and Drinkwater decimated us.
Not according to this, but the first goal was a penalty by Davies. Also two of the Ipswich scorers were Chopra and Scotland Barnsley 3-5 Ipswich - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/16015685
Swansea @ home last season, Poya’s first game, Swansea just happy to literally pass the ball back & forth between their back line pretty much for 90 minutes whilst we refused to press beyond the half way line. Had we given it a good go we probably would have beaten them & who knows, gone on a little winning run to kick start the season.
