At beginning of season I thought we would finish top half and would be ok with that . After more than a third of the season and more of an insight into all teams performances I think we are easily in the top ten . Possibly top eight and potentially (depending on January sales) top six but obviously nowhere near top two .
Fair assessment. I thought about the same I'd say we are above my expectations and I think a lot of that is down to a very good head coach appointment. If we had been organised well like this last season we would have stayed up in my humble opinion.
C,O,Y,R, we are a good league 1 team and would be happy to finish anywhere near top 6, no money, i cant see much happening in Jan, but a couple of good loans would do us no harm
Us & Wednesday at Wembley is my dream ticket. T’would be awesome & so colourful. Does that sound a bit gay? Not bothered.
I am trying not get too disappointed with defeats and too carried away with the wins but yesterday was a step up for me Duff has hit on a formation that suits us. I think top half easily top 6 maybe a strong January then who knows.
I've got that sitting on the fence not sure where I want our season to go uncertainty. I think we are capable of hitting playoffs. If that happens then it's a lottery and who knows. Who'd have thought we were even remotely close last time till Hammil dragged us up. I also fear that if we did pull it off, we'd just have a season of getting tonked next year. I'd like the excitement of a push and a day out at Oakwell South ... But not sure that I'd want it the year after.
I am not sure why you would not take the opportunity to go up if it came, also Rotherham are making a fist of it this season so why cannot we ? , to me it is all about who is in the hot seat & how the squad is put together & I might be wrong but I get the feeling that Duff is here for the long haul & sees it as a project, he has shown loyalty throughout his career & I think if he is given the time he could well establish us at the next level by the same token he needs backing & patience to get us there, it could be this year but if it takes two, three or four so be it , ps I think Hammil had left last time we went up under Stendel but he was a brilliant player for us.
I thought we would struggle this year. But a combination of general improvement from the payers (individually and collectively) and a League that is frankly - woeful, puts me in the optimistic camp. Top six would be great but we really do need some striking options in January. I hope if we're in and around the play offs the Board follow through on their earlier commitments and provide improved resources for the Coach. Beating Wednesday in the Play offs would be just 'up there' and hilarious!
my expectation before a ball was kicked, was top 10. despite everything, still think we're a 'top 10' club at league 1, in terms of budget, attendance etc. anything outside top 10 I would consider a failure. I didn't think we were automatic material, and still don't.
Expected mid table after the disasters of last season and the fire sale that followed....still not expecting much more so anything approaching play offs would be brill...
Reckon the top 3 have their own battle for automatic then we’re one of 5 battling for the 3 more play off spots. Between us, Derby, Bolton, Posh and Pompey. All depends on whether we bring in at least one decent striker in January.
We were five points better off at this stage (18 games) in 2018/19 and just about to lose away at Sunderland, then lose at Wycombe and then draw against Pompey. So after 21 games in 18/19 we had 36 points. If we get seven points from our next three games this season, we’ll be ahead of that. However, we then went on a 20-game unbeaten run, so….
After last seasons shower of sh*t, I thought we'd struggle to make the top half, and I think I suggested about 14th at best. But then we hired Duff of course, and went on a good Lg run to 5th in the table. And that made me think top 8 surely, and then the Play offs are a possibility. But it still all comes back to January and the owners again, and what if any effort they are willing to make regarding the team.
I think last season was more to do with the two clowns in charge rather than the players. It'd be interesting to get some snippets about what the players actually thought rather than bland non-statements.
Joint best defence in the league. We’re lacking a quality striker to add to the goal contribution from the defence/midfield. Add someone else up front in Jan and we’ve every possibility for the top 6
