Not a pile on, just replying with my own feelings. Should I not comment on posts then if other people have done so?

I'm against the strikes because it's a rubbish service they provide in the first place. I'm sure there are other commuters just as shallow, short-sighted and shameful as me stood at Moorthorpe for two hours because another train has been cancelled.

Then attack the companies/ bosseswho make the decisions, implement the timetables etc, etc, instead of collectively branding the workers greedy then.

you seem to assume, he and the union are fine upstandin
Beats me how you seem willing to believe everything Mick Lynch says is gospel, because if life has taught me anything it won't be.
Fact is the country is skint and if the government know if they cave on this then everybody else will pile on, its not even as if they are low paid compared to many, and I would argue there are others like the nurses who are more deserving first.
When EVERYBODY is pleading for help with finances in the current climate something has to give.
Now agreed nobody wants to see their standard of living fall but they would have been better off at least waiting until things improved at least a bit with the Ukraine situation especially.

Theses strikes were always going to happen because they are being provoked by a govt that simply doesn’t care and knows it can easily make striking workers the villains. Next month Civil Servants are due to take action same will become of them. Again, not just money but having terms and conditions attacked. These people (of which I was one until 18 months ago, and my wife still is) weren’t furloughed and worked all through the pandemic under serious pressure as the staff numbers were drastically reduced due to vulnerable staff being sent home. When we finished work their was often nothing left on the shop shelves, lunchtime queues were too long to shop then. We didn’t have any ‘privileges’ like being served first or discounts likeNHS workers did (no problem with NHS staff, just could’ve been extended to more critical workers though) My wife and I Inevitably got covid. On top of that my wages fell to a few pence an hour above the NMW. However, ivies Servants will likely be the next in line to be called greedy ******** no doubt.

Further to other comments mate. And I really do know where you are coming from.
An example of where a guilt trip works on the working class.
I once attended a meeting on a pay rise. between the shop stewards of 3 unions within the workforce.
The shop stewards in my union GMB (a minority) voted against the recommendation put forward by the 3 convenors to accept an offer well below our members expectations. I challenged the convenors. A full timer from one of the other unions, UNISON.
used the analogy a single parent mother couldn't afford to take industrial action.
I was fuming to say the least. She was willing to accept on that footing. WTF. We were fighting for a better standard of living. For her members as well as ours, (including the single mother). Not stood still or falling back. We lost the vote because we were outnumbered by her stewards. (Nearly all office staff not manual workers)
I never had a days strike in all my 34 yrs. And the threat of a withdrawal of the offer was put to the stewards if not accepted.
How do they not realise that a rejection would not necessarily jeopardise the offer as the members would then dig their heels in if offered less. Invariably the threat of action would bring em back to the table.
I challenged the legality of that show of hands
at the next meeting of our union and we got shut of that process. (They didn't even know we had the right to take industrial action on behalf of our own members. Which shocked me and the Full time official put em right on that count) They now cater to the demands of it's own members as did the other of the 3 UNITE ( who also rejected the recommendation.) They will still support one another if necessary. As should be the case.
Some shop Stewards quite frankly pander to management rather than those who they represent.
The workforce are not daft. They will invariably accept less than they want. But will not accept a derisory offer. What's the point of negotiations on pay otherwise. A compromise is normally reached. Based on many factors. And may include bonus targets. Even though they tend to favour the company who can and do, fudge figures to suit.

You seem to assume that folk who go on strike aren’t fine and upstanding. These Tory morons have run the country down over the last. 12 years. People have to stand and fight, they are the victims not the cause

You have made the wrong assumption.

Being a union rep taught me not to believe everything said to me is the truth. Mostly my own members on a disciplinary. (I include some reps as well)
I Never said what I thought he said was gospel. And I don't know. But neither do you.
But I do know he answered questions this morning that would leave him wide open to investigation.
How do I know when a government minister sometimes lies. It's as soon as they open their gob.
Funny how the other side of the negotiations are not subject to the same questions live on tv or change the subject to suit em. . Ask yourself why.
    And while we are on.
The nurses deserve all they can get, on that we agree. .
Even if it's at the expense of a country that's skint. Or do you disagree. ?

    Solidarity with those striking.

Please direct your anger at the correct place, rather than those who simply want to improve their standard of living.

In short, blame those Tories you voted for Stephen.

All I'll say is canvass the opinions of both sides including passengers who commute regularly rather than just people on soap boxes virtue signalling. Then you'll get proper balanced opinions on the strikes. Aren't rail workers told they have to be in the union.

Be interesting to know what they feel about striking.

Yes my comment calling them "greedy w@nkers" was OTT.

I don't feel I should be vilified for wanting a service to run though.

As I've suspected for a while. It's just because I voted Tory.

    No.

I'm saying that you're directing your anger at the wrong people. It is not the fault of the workers - they simply are wanting a fair wage rise to help them put the heating on or feed their kids. Don't blame them.

Blame those in power. Those who've caused this. Those who continue to cause this. And those who will carry on continuing this whilst folk blame each other whilst they race to the bottom.
