Justice done with the penalty missed. Never a penalty in a million years. Not even close to being one. I think someone is desperate to get Argentina through.
VAR definitely seems pretty badly used in this World Cup. There’s no way that ref should have even been sent to look at it.
It's turning the game into a non contact sport. I guarantee that if I replayed every corner etc often enough I could find a penalty in every one. I was a big advocate of var but they're misusing it to ruin the game while all the divers and cheats remain untouched.
How is VAR to blame ? The final decision was made by the referee using technology so it was human error as it was certainly no pen
Away from the stupid penalty Poland are dreadful. It’s like a game of Attack v Defence. They are not even trying to hit them on the break. Clearly playing for the 0-0 but they need to at least make Argentina think they might be attacked
Thought the same recently. Could maybe do with it being sent upstairs to a different ref, like in cricket, to make it a bit more objective. But then you get into all sorts of tangles about authority on the pitch, I guess. Maybe a clear signal from a video ref (akin to an assistant's flag) but leave the final decision in the hands of the referee with the clear implication that they'd be overturning it if they disagreed?
Because VAR told the ref to go take another look at it. The ref decided in real time it wasn’t a pen and then VAR told him it looked like a clear and obvious error.
