Easy, you’ll go out of business. Terrible comparison, but very typical of the hard of thinking. Tory propaganda well and truly alive here.

where does the 18 % increase for nhs workers come from ? Maybe not retiring early and then coming back as an agency nurse ?

The redundancy caused by the pay rise will make up for the wage increases when the protection runs out.

According to the lovely person Nadhim Zahawi, all strikers are Putin's allies. An unbelievably crass statement even for this government.

FFS, we were clapping for nurses a couple of years ago; but then, that didn't cost the government owt.

Clapping nurses and toasting furlough in their gardens with copious amounts of San Miguel. Those that worked through got the benefit of increased taxes for their troubles.

What a country we live in. Then to boot those on benefits get heating allowance and cost of living payments whilst those that work get f cuk all.

That’s convoluting two issues. People on benefits need heating allowance and cost of living payments. The Tories are wanting you to blame the poor rather than the real cause of all this which is themselves.

Posted my ballot paper back to Unison this morning saying yes to strike action. Enough is enough.

I would suspect the vast majority entitled to those payments would rather have a job so they weren't entitled to them. Around 40% of workers claim benefits on Universal Credit...

If everyone is on strike for Christmas we could have a party.

Unfortunately some people will still have to work though. Can't expect there to be no buses and trains to get us to the picket lines.

That said, it will be short shifts because by the time I get to work. It will be time to set off home again.

I claimed the grants as my buisness suffered now there’s talk of them wanting it back
Some of what you say is correct . However, I have a wife who works with families who receive help . They are ample people out their who do not require it and abuse it to death .

Do you think people that worked through should be taxed at the same rate as those that were furloughed?

It's not a race to the bottom, as much as the Tories want to make it one.

I think those who worked through should be rewarded to some extent . I worked through but I was down on buisness by about 60% . I think there should one tax rate for all . This would cut out the high earners who do not pay or use loop holes . I am a believer, that if you have grafted and bettered yourself and you earn a salary or wage that’s is proportional to your skills, then why should you pay more . I’m a son of a miner, I’ve done many jobs from the army to stacking shelves, driving a van to teaching. I now work the myself and I do work I can tell you I’ve went to uni when I was 40 because I wanted a better wage . That’s probably a Tory belief many on here and will say I have no doubt I will be pelted for it .
Better get my hard hat on !

No it wouldn't. This is maybe one of the most insane things I've ever heard.

    Explain how this would happen?

Tax bands are the only fair way for it to work. Unless you're a greedy **** that only cares about themselves. That has you covered then.

And by the way, I say this as someone that would have made about £20,000 more last year if tax was a flat 20% on all earnings.

Double edged sword that m8, I know loads of people who were much worse off because they were furloughed and would have preferred to work.
