each to their own, but genuinely don't know what game you were watching, to call it an 'abject failure'. IMO we were just about edged out, in a game that we just fell short in. for info, the Oxford definition of abject: - experienced or present to the maximum degree; completely without pride I don't think our performance was either of those things at all.
He's done well in charge of us and upped expectation level. But we've gone out earlier than the last World Cup and been relegated in the Nations League. Maybe he's taken us as far as he can it's never meant to be where he wins us a trophy.
You seriously don't think he's improved our mentality? The 'golden' generation openly said their rivalries & mentalities towards each other affected how they played together.
We don't want another merry go round of Svens & Capellos. Southgate should hold onto it through the next Euros & see who comes to the fore as successor. Eddie Howe looks ideal, but he sticks with the job in hand & right now he's doing well with Newcastle.
I'd be shocked if Howe wanted to join now, doing great at Newcastle, in European place in league, endless money. If he does well at Newcastle for a couple of years, whilst earning bucketloads more than he would at England, he'll move up to an elite bracket of managers you'd imagine; and the jobs would be piling in if he were to leave eventually!
Can't see what you wrote mate due to ****, I'll assume you agreed and retracted your former statement
I think they deserved to go through, I've said that in other posts. saying we were 'abject failures' is what I disagree with. I think that's massively harsh.
We have had ma y so called elite managers in the national team. They have all failed. It’s time to realise we are not a world force
No more foreigners for me and that’s not being racist, europhobic or any other sort of phobic . Whatever you think of Southgate and I’m one of his biggest critics is that he cares snd hurts . Never saw that that in capello or Erickson and don’t want to revisit those times . If we replacing Southgate then we need a ready replacement and I don’t see one st the mo . Whether Southgates got the tactics or not he’s got the respect of the players and we need to build on that not blow it up with another wannabe celebrity .
That's hard to quantify though because it's only once every 4 years. We could have a new Mbappe, Foden, Messi etc etc pop up at any time. The only one I'd class as elite would be Capello imo
If they got rid of Southgate, they'd give it Steve Holland, so it would be more of the same, so might as well keep him.
Generally, I would agree with that statement bud and I completely get where you're coming from. But if it were Tuchel, I think he would feel everything as though it was his club. There's probably 3 in the world I'd take at current, Tuchel, Pep & Klopp. Wouldn't even be sure on someone like Pocc. Certainly not people like Zidane & Simeone.
