Waddle, Batty, Pearce, Southgate…. We have plenty of form when it comes to missing important penalties. The irony is that we could and should have had four last night. I wonder if he would have taken them all?
He seems to have a sensible head on his shoulders. He'll have other chances to win with England. I'd like to think he'll go home and have a nice time with family at Christmas.
I’d swap, To be in my 20’s again, fit, being paid huge sums to play something I used to do for fun. I’d cope with the pain of missing the pen. We’ve all done things we wish we could do again slightly differently. That’s just life
No doubt he'll feel awful and I do have sympathy with that. But one of the reasons he's paid so much money and been given the captaincy of the national side is to deal with the pressure that involves which includes coping when things don't go well. I was hugely disappointed when he missed but I hope he quickly gets over the set back.
Fairly sure it will make it even harder to score the next one if he takes it with his chin instead of his feet...
