We get a penalty. Harry Kane's taking it. It's going top left corner. It doesn't matter what the keeper does, it's going top left corner and it's going in. It's the same when Woodrow takes a penalty or Shearer, it's going top left corner and it's going in. Because with their talent they can do that forever and a day. And the first one goes top left corner and it goes in. Of course it does, when you're that talented and you practice this over and over and over again it always goes in.

And then you get another one. And all you have to do is put it in the top left corner like you've done a million times before. And it'll go in. But you don't. You kick it straight down the middle and it goes over the top. Of course it does. You've never practiced that before. Why didn't you do what you'd practiced a million times before? I don't understand.

I know you're hurting Harry. But so am I.

You and me and millions of others will never understand what it takes, to step up and take a penalty under those conditions, in that moment. I’d back him every day to take the next one. Who knows, they might have also gone straight down the pitch and scored a third. It is what it is.

If the Saka foul is given France don't score their first. It's like the Terminator.

    I blame Sarah Connor.

I'd be surprised if they only practised taking a penalty one way. They're not machines These things happen, look at Spain they'd taken loads of pens and completely messed them up!

Too much riding on that second penalty for me. Rescuing our tournament, becoming England leading goalscorer, trying to outthink your clubmate for a second time. All hindsight from me of course, but others are paid thousands to think outside the box. Step up Jordan Henderson..... .

Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. Didn’t Spain players take a thousand penalties or summat daft?

And if he'd missed? Designated penalty taker takes the penalties imo.

Penalties don"t count anyway , well not according to the Woodrow critics , he was superb at them but to some on here they didn"t count .

Normally I'd agree, but the whole squad must have been practicing penalties this week. Having shown your hand with the first penalty, I'm surprised we didn't have someone different take the second.

Always easier with 20/20 hindsight, though...

    Jordan Henderson?
His record shows as 50% one scored for Liverpool one missed for England last year.
Understand your rational of another player, just don’t think he would have been my choice.

I think it was that interminable delay that got into his head. The first was given immediately and despatched within a minute. The second was a long drawn out affair with the incompetents unable to make a decision even though the foul was blatant. Pressure builds and a normally cool penalty taker gets it horribly wrong

    Did he change his routine?
He did his sock thing but never saw him take the big breath he normally does.

So what? He wasn't in the team yesterday. And he eats too many crisps.

Don’t mind him putting the second pen down the middle, didn’t get why he only took a two step run up though.

You said after he’d shown his hand surprised we didn’t have someone else, I’m saying other players have managed to do it.

Don't you think other nations would have been moaning about those decisions? The Germans had been moaning about 1966 for 40.odd years until Lampards goal wasn't given and then it was payback.
