Just finished watching it. I was 2.5 hours behind because I set it recording and went shopping with the wife. Fabulous game of football.

I hated the whole idea of a winter world cup in Qatar. But once I put that to one side and stuck to the football, I have enjoyed the tournament. And today's game was worthy of any final.

    As for Qatar. **** em.

why such apparent hatred for mbappe? he very nearly singlehandedly won the World Cup final. 12 World Cup goals and still only 23. he's a phenomenal player.

Yeah, Mbappe will go on to win all sorts of things and break some records, but even though I have nothing against him (I think he's a fantastic player!), I'm happy that he didn't win again.

2022 is the first final that a team that I actually like won, so this will go down as the best final for me. It's not only the best final, it's also one of the best games of football that I've seen. People say that it was boring until the 80th minute, and while the best stuff indeed happened after that, there was a lot going on even before that as well. Of course it helps when your favourite is winning though... :D

Actually, I changed my mind about the best final. Our L1 playoff final against Swansea was the best final ever! :D

I can already imagine Harry Kane lifting the trophy in a cheeseburger costume with an assault rifle in his left hand.

I think the only reason there’s been such a ‘debate’ about Messi / Ronaldo is because Ronaldo’s played for 2 of the 3 best supported clubs in the world.

I know loads of Man Utd fans or fans of Barnsley who have Man Utd as a second team who will say Ronaldo’s the best but I never really come across neutrals who see Ronaldo as the better player.

Don’t know if many people have heard the story behind Scaloni getting the job but basically he got it on a caretaker basis after only ever managing the Argentine under 20’s side.

He appointed his brilliant former international team mates Pablo Aimar, Roberto Ayala, Walter Samuel as assistants despite none of them ever managing a club or national side.

Fans were furious. By the sounds of it, it was about as popular as Newcastle appointing Joe Kinnear but unbelievably it worked.

They went & won the Copa América & then the World Cup despite it been one of the weakest Argentine sides on paper. Phenomenal achievement.
