Portsmouth certainly fell away big style from where they were in that table. Just shows that it’s all still to play for
Watching Allan Clarke turn out for us in that first game - league cup home to Chesterfield - was incredible. Still couldn’t believe we had signed him, even though he had a red shirt on
Yes I couldnt believe it either. Seem to think we had quite a few more in attendance than normal for the first match of the season Dont think we did so well that game but I dont remember any details
At what point though? He’s 23, in his fifth full season of first team professional football and has played over 150 games. I like him. He has a lot of ability and all the attributes. A proper 100%er as well, I like that a lot. Never gives up or hides. But he’s still making at least one fundamental balls up every game. It didn’t cost us on Saturday, it will other days. At some stage those need to stop.
Clarke played himslef in midfield, Peter Price up front, Brian Joicey at centre half and Dave Markham at right back.
You are on about Cadden bud? Cos I was. If you were I have to say I think you're completely wrong. We just weren't getting on the end of things and so keeper would get there or it would trickle past and a defender would get to it. We've wised up to it now, James norwood alone has missed 3 easy(ish?) chances from Cadden crosses that I can recall. We have a lot more movement in the box and it's getting better & better.
I am - mentioned in game talking about every cross hitting the same place. Norwood got nowhere near as keeper collected majority of them. In that particular game v Exeter it was bloke next to me that pointed it out - next cross then into keepers hands. Not completely wrong to say crossing danger zone is between six yard box and the penalty area - Cole goal on Saturday six yards line - Philips goal vMK Dons into same area.
thanks mate, but looks like the first game under Clarkey was his only game. That's why I can't remember him
