    Plus the cost of a full kit if they don’t already have one. Plus more if >1 accompanying adult wants to be there. I know other Clubs charge more, but still a hell of a lot of money for most.

    What you moaning about it’s a bargain for your average working man ,just work 30 extra hours in a factory and your child can be a mascot for 5 hours ,youreds

    Didn’t used to cost anything apart from buying the kit. Mind you it was back in 2006 when my lad did it v Southampton.

    their sport washing is also on another level. quite a few PL clubs don't charge. some charge obscene amounts.

    When my children were mascots it was free - very well organised - think the guy who did it was Laurie ??
    (Although the option to pay was there for kids to 'jump the queue' - father of one lad was paying for the lad to be mascot for a number of games,)
    £180 + possibly cost of kit is a lot to pay and looking at the itinerary not sure if kids get much bang for their buck - sure most kids would be happy to meet the players pre-match and lead team out onto the pitch.
    Don't think they'd be too bothered about a 'one course meal from locally sourced ingredients' or a tour of the boardroom or a kick about in the Training Arena.

    Unless it's changed recently, we also run a free mascot experience which is usually arranged months ahead. I think this is for those who also want to combine it with an exec experience or want a specific match (and can afford it).

    I wonder do mascots who are with the opposing team also have to pay £180 and do our 'away mascots' have to pay?

    Actually it seems it has changed to one paid mascot only per game + the football team player escorts.
    Which I think means you'd have to be in a jnr football team or have wealthy parents to be in with a chance of a mascot like experience? I know the club need to maximise commercial income but it feels a bit of a shame that some kids will be excluded from the chance of that memorable experience

    My lad was away mascot at Blackpool maybe 8-9 years ago (Flicker era). Free but the 4 Blackpool mascots had all paid about £200 if memory serves. All wanted to hold hands with Tom Ince when they walked out which nearly caused a punch up between the parents. Flicker was great with us - 2 images from dressing room stand out: 1) massive bowl of jelly Babies in the middle of the room and 2) being greeted by the sight of Scott Wiseman and David Perkins wearing very (very) small tight fitting white briefs. Still gives me nightmares now.......

    I agree - something disagreeable - a bit un-Barnsley like - about charging for someone to be a mascot.

    Thanks HT - took my daughter to changing room - wife not allowed!
    2 things I recall - how little interaction there was between the players - I thought they would have been all matey and joking but they were quite distant with each other. It may have been pre-match nerves or possibly like any other workforce they worked well together without too much interacting. Secondly our goalie at the time who could have done with some briefs (large!)

    Shall we have a whip round to give a child who might not get the chance to be a mascot the chance,not sure how you do a funding thing but sure we can soon get to 250 quid to get them in and a kit,how we find a deserving kid not sure either ,any ideas BBSers

    Or the BBS could approach the Club questioning the fairness of their policy of charging potential mascots and asking the Club to review this policy.

    tbh - I wouldn't have paid £180 for any of my three children to be mascots on principle - something disagreeable and elitist about the whole scheme.

    there are hundreds of football-mad children who are living in families who are struggling financially - there are hundreds of empty seats each matchday at Oakwell -
    Perhaps the Club could do something here!
    (and it wouldn't bother me at all if a 'deserving child' had free entry whereas my children have paid for Season Tickets.)
