Shambles again. We should be able to play our big matches at 3 PM on a Saturday. Really disappointed for those fans who now cannot go because of this silly decision.

Why can we kick off at 3 on a Saturday at Hillsborough but not at oakwell?

It was ok to play the reverse fixture on a Saturday so why not this one?

Was it a different police force when they policed the game at Hillsborough which was a Saturday 3pm kick off then?

They want to work with grass roots football, I can say that move has royally smashed loads for a Sunday game now.

It's even starting to grate my gears this treatment and it never used to bother me

Joke. Another barmy decision by SYP. Why we can play at the sty at 3 but not at Oakwell is a mystery.

Anyone that plays grass roots, anyone with kids who play football Sunday, in my case my boy plays rugby Sundays, all absolutely shafted. For what?

I honestly thought after the Hillsborough game being a Saturday 3pm game, SYP had changed their spots a bit. Should have known better.

If my boy has a match there’s no way we can attend this now. Missing the derby and potentially a promotion decider long term, due to their inability to do what every other territorial police force in the country manages in much bigger games than Barnsley V Wednesday.

    Absolute joke.

Makes no sense to me. The only other game in South Yorkshire is Rotherham v Sunderland so I imagine that’s the reason to stop all the fans crossing paths at train stations that day. Crazy.

Yep exactly the same boat for me. Can’t understand why they didn’t just make the game earlier in the day on the Saturday tbh.

Not sure why people are getting upset, it was inevitable, and if we beat Derby, the match isn't happening that weekend anyway.

Also, I don't believe it to the fault of SY Police. It's simply we'll not pay them the required amount, hence it's cheaper to host on the Sunday.

Used to be the case that the club had to agree to move the fixture. The police will just charge extra policing costs if you don't agree. So likely a combination of police pressure and Barnsley always giving in.
Could well end up getting moved again anyway.

Absolutely shambolic & it’s about time the club take some responsibility here & tell SYP to piss off! Why is it the reverse fixture didn’t get changed? Pathetic.

Genuine question - why cheaper to host on Sunday? Do SYP charge more for a Saturday than a Sunday?

SYP are the most corrupt pathetic police force in this country . A utter shambles of a public service. They should be disbanded .

Would agree with you but if that’s the case why wasn’t it rearranged earlier in the season rather than wait until a month before when most people have probably started to count on the game happening on the date. I mean it’s been planned since June/July this year.

Genuine answer - I don't know. However, I suspect it is more the timing than the day.
