Noticed it a few games ago- can't remember game but he picked ball up outside our box and sprinted whole length of the field with it
From my point of view neither of our main forward options is good enough to be regular staters and both should be impact subs . Cole is playing as well as he can do credit to him and Duff for that but his decision making is still poor and he doesn’t use his attributes well enough but you can’t really criticise anyone who is playing as well as they possibly can. Norwood has experience and given the opportunities is a reliable finisher. His fitness has definitely improved meaning he can contribute more. The issue with him is that he isn’t as sharp in getting into goalscoring areas as he once was meaning he doesn’t get many opportunities to utilise his finishing. Basically time catches up with all of us. He would be an excellent impact sub. Duff deserves all the credit in the world on getting a team this light on quality forwards into 4th through great organisation and optimising the abilities of Cole and others but we definitely need to strengthen the forward line.
This with bells on! Duff deserves all the credit in the world on getting a team this light on quality forwards into 4th through great organisation and optimising the abilities of Cole and others but we definitely need to strengthen the forward line.
They aren't as good as what we have had previously in this league but credit to both they are working hard for the team. Both listened and knuckled down unlike Iseka
I don't rate Norwood much. When he swung that elbow against Lincoln it was exactly what I was expecting. But ever since then I've been impressed with him. I haven't changed my mind to the extent that I now think he's a great player. Sometimes he looks OK, other times not so much depending on the quality of the centre half he's up against. But I do think he works extremely hard and that his efforts are of great benefit to the team. I also think he's become a much more mature and professional person and has grown into the role of leader that the manager wanted him to be. To be a good side we still need two strikers but while we've got Norwood and Cole we can be assured they'll give everything they've got.
Don't mind anybody shooting tbh, with Cole its when he had an open goal he virtually passed it back to the keeper, and he always seems reactive rather than proactive to crosses , meaning he is often just too late.
I rate Norwood more highly than Cole to be honest. I know Cole has a couple more goals at the moment but Norwood just looks more effective all round; he harries defenders, makes a nuisance of himself, runs powerfully with the ball. He’s got fitter and stronger too, he played the full 90+ last night and was still running to the end. (Though did look pretty knackered after 80mins ish!) Cole is powderpuff, slow, always reactive rather than proactive. That’s not to say I don’t think he tries, but I just don’t think he’s particularly good. He had a couple of chances last night which a competent football league striker would have gobbled up. He just doesn’t anticipate the ball coming to him.
Sometimes his link up play leaves a bit to be desired but I think he makes up for it by putting himself about and generally roughing up defenders (not going too far like against Lincoln though). His finishing is probably the best at the club, although there’s not a whole lot of competition at the moment. Hopefully that will be rectified in the next few weeks.
I don’t rate either both too inconsistent a good striker scores nearly every week. Unless we get one it could ruin our season ,feckin hell we,ve had enough t time someone should be lined up for jan 1 if we,ve been doing our job right.
Considering how our last few transfer windows have gone I wouldn't hold out much hope. Over to Calamity Khaled to pull something out of the bag.
Let's not get carried away Norwood 18 games 4 goals Cole 20 games 7 goals Norwood less than 1 in 4 ratio coles a just above 1 in 3 Do I think any will score 20 at end of season? No. Definitely need to bring in a new striker in January regardless of people's opinions on either.
They identified in the Summer we needed more of an attacking threat up top. Regardless of us sitting 4th atm, it would be nothing short of criminal and negligent if they don’t strengthen in that area.
Be interesting to see who these new strikers are and where the money comes from to pay for em. I think Norwoods doing great and a good fit for us.
