The first of several huge home games in the 2nd half of the season. A 13,000+ crowd is expected for the first time this season to witness the teams currently in 4th and 6th in the table, square off for the 3rd time this season. Bolton's league position can be greatly attributed to their home form, where they've amassed almost two thirds of their points this season. On their travels, they're a lowly 14th, and on par with an MK Dons side who were resounding beaten at Oakwell just over a month ago. That being said, they have only lost 1 of their last 5 away from home (at Shrewsbury), and 1 in 9 home and away in all competitions. Defensively they've been quite solid, conceding only 2 more goals than us. From an attacking perspective, they've occasionally struggled; they've scored 3 fewer than us, and only Port Vale in the top half have scored fewer. Our record against Bolton isn't particularly great. Our FA Cup victory over the Trotters is our only win in our last 16 meetings home or away. Our last league win against Bolton came courtesy of goals from Eric Tinkler and Georgi Hristov, either side of a Peter Beardsley effort. A game which was notable for the debut of Lars Leese, who replaced Dave Watson in goal shortly after Bolton's equaliser. We came close to winning in 2018, when an early Gary Gardner strike was cancelled out late on by goals from Adam Le Fondre and Craig Noone; Oli McBurnie rescued a late point on that occasion. Considering we have an extra day's break and a good home record in comparison to Bolton's away record, I think we'll edge this one by the odd goal. I'm going 1-0 with Norwood on the scoresheet.
Judging by our previous games this season, I think it will be a tight and intense game. Like you, I’m going for a 1-0 win. Phillips scoring though.
I was going 4 nowt, but with the two, not so good strikers up front, i'm going with my head and a 3 nowt win, C,O,Y,R,
It will be tight we haven’t drawn many this season so could well be due one. Going for 1-1 Them getting a soft penalty
In mid to late 90’s there must have been three or four 2-2’s with one or two 3-3’s as well. It was similar to the times that Garner seemed nailed on to score against us when playing Blackburn
You are so knowledgeable, i read all your posts, even when i threw a red herring in the other day not intentionally you were on it like a flash, keep up the good work. However 7 Draw's out of 8, were due a win C,O,Y,R.
Haha, not at all. I just had the scores app open that has past meetings on it. I knew we drew 2-2 with them twice the season we got promoted to the Premier League, but otherwise I had no idea. And the one the other day, I only knew because I'd heard a Rotherham fan moaning about him on radio Sheffield.
