Unfortunately, stories like that will be around until the end of time. There will always be grooming, kiddie fiddlers, racism, murder, insert any other heinous crime here, all we can do is work to limit it to the best of our ability, punish it when it's found & encourage people the best way possible to come out against it if they're witness/privy to it, regardless of fear
It’s becoming worse due to cuts and more and more families not taking responsibility for looking after and educations their kids
I don't think it's becoming worse. I think it's just reported more. I was at school in the 90s. Girls were being groomed and 'used' sexually daily. That's a quarter of a century ago. The only difference is it wasn't reported, in fact nobody cared. Don't forget that people of your generation were looking at schoolgirls on page three many years ago. I don't mean that to tarnish 'your generation' but just to point out how long certain things have been widespread and how things are reported different these days.
The things I’ve spoke about briefly is not grooming to be honest . If anything it’s the opposite . However my wife worked at kettlethorpe school for years and Asian grooming was a huge issue for the school in the late 90’s early 2000’s .it was done right in front of the school gates . Reported hourly by staff but ignored constantly by the police . As for the page 3 discussion , I can guarantee it’s a million % worse now . Just look at only fans , insta and tik tok for instance . Unfortunately whichever race has committed and is still committing these horrific crimes, it is still been swept or under the carpet . In fact every other week a syp copper seems to be caught for it
Only fans is for adults isn't it? And both tiktok and insta have rules to protect kids. Now I'm not an idiot, they aren't properly enforced, but they do exist. In 1994 a 15 year old Linsey dawn McKenzie was on the front cover of national newspapers posing in her school uniform with a countdown to her 16th birthday for middle aged men to masturbate to. In 2001 a paparazzi shot of 15 year old Charlotte church was accompanied with the caption 'shes a big girl now' and the article went on to describe the size of her breasts. (That article was unironically right next to an article branding brass eye 'sick' for making jokes about paedophiles). The fact your wife's school were reporting grooming regularly in the 2000s again shows what I mean. In the 90s the teachers at my school turned a blind eye to it. It's always gone on, I'm just glad that it's not socially acceptable anymore as opposed to in the past when it was used to sell newspapers to millions of perverts. I'm convinced it was the public's attitude towards teenage girls back then that allowed people like savile and Harris to commit their crimes unchecked. It most likely was a key reason in allowing the grooming in Rotherham to go on too.
I agree with most of that . Apart from the Rotherham part of which was covered up because of the threat to alienate the local Pakistani/Bangladeshi community . This cannot be disputed as report after report as concluded including the poor victims own interviews
It was both reasons. A blind eye turned by the public, parents and carers because of the reasons I gave but a blind eye ultimately turned by those in charge for the reasons you gave.
The blind eye was not turned by the public or the parents that’s for sure . Read the Alexis Jay report pal
I've read bits of it but to be honest it's not exactly Harry potter standard. I get what you mean though
It has always happened. Just look up the history of the term "Sweet Fanny Adams" (or sweet FA). That story is over 150 years old now. In the USA, a senior republican was caught on camera "flirting" with some teenagers and *their parents* supported him. They saw it as a good thing for their daughters that a rich old man was attracted to them! In some states, the age of consent in many states is as low as 13! In the 70s and 80s, sexy school girls were a common joke on most popular comedies. Teenagers with their first cars were going out with impressionable 14-15 year olds back when I was at school. One of my daughters friends at 13-14 was going out with a man several years older - although I believe they are still together with a baby (she'll be 23-24 now).
